'Like Kathryn Tickell?' says he. 'Similar ball-park maybe,' says I, ' - Only whilst she's basking in the limelight hitting home runs, we're lurking under the bleachers looking for dog-ends of ancient traditional song.' (I confess that I pinched the essence this from an irrelevant review of our album in Stirrings where the less-than smart-arsed reviewer didn't bother listening to the record but plaguerised an earlier review he did of one of my random CD-Rs where it was Robin Williamson hitting the home runs, and Sedayne was the old tramp lurking beneath the bleachers.) Roadies: I think we've rationalised all the cases etc. so we can get everything from the car in one load now. R carries her banjo and guitar; I carry the crwth, fiddle, kemence, and two bags containing amp, mixer, Koassilator, and leads. Merchandising is kept to a minimum, though we might be fielding my new range of medieval paperweights... Sex: No comment... Drugs: Ibruprofen, Paracetamol, Ventolin... Marmite: Since we gave up bread the jar we bought last year is a little under half full (I'm a half-full kinda guy!). What other uses can it be put to I wonder other than providing a convenient metaphor for false oppositions and the causes thereof?? Acquired Taste has always struck me as faint praise, especially when one thinks of the wonderful things that truly are acquired tastes: Trout Mask Replica, Fine Malt Whisky, Albert Ayler, Real Traditional Folk Singers, Gagaku, Piobaireachd, Anchovies. The stuff of life indeed... Old Friends: We really do hope to be at The Beech next Wednesday for that all important 4th birthday bash... |

There I am trying to keep things clean for the sake of the Family Audience for whom Marmite is something that Imogen hates but Jeremy can't get enough of and Mum & Dad keep hidden away in the back of the bedside drawer for those special Sunday mornings when I & J are out bird nesting. Anyway, despite all this talk of Marmite, let it be known that Rapunzel & Sedayne are a Lea & Perrins sort of group, though they also favour Kikoman Soy and LIDL own brand Tommy K. Their favourite colours are blue and purple respectively and they like Zoos (Porcupines especially), the films of Kitano Takeshi, and their favourite TV show is Curb Your Enthusiasm. |

All Stirrings reviewers (including a certain O'Piobaireachd) approach their designated task responsibly and conscientiously. This, reasonably enough, includes listening to the CD under discussion.
