I'll be making a direct appeal to some ancient Ethiopian gods on Severn's behalf, pouring them a libation of honey mead from a horn cup. The old gods don't get much attention these days and, who knows, may actually be motivated to help.

Please pass this on to Severn and let him know I'll call tonight or tomorrow. Bruce.

"My wife found out that our dog (a Schnauzer) could hardly hear, so she took it to the veterinarian.

The vet found that the problem was hair in the dog's ears. He cleaned both ears, and the dog could then hear fine.

The vet then proceeded to tell Andrea that, if she wanted to keep this from recurring, she should go to the store and get some "Nair" hair remover and rub it in the dog's ears once a month.
Andrea went to the store and bought some "Nair" hair remover.

At the register, the pharmacist told her, "If you're going to use this under your arms, don't use deodorant for a few days."
Andrea said, "I'm not using it under my arms."

The pharmacist said, "If you're using it on your legs, don't use body lotion for a couple of days."
Andrea replied, "I'm not using it on my legs either. If you must know, I'm using it on my Schnauzer."

The pharmacist says, "Well, stay off your bicycle for about a week."

Severn,

Sit back, relax, let the nurses take extra super good care of you. Talk to the people in the chair next to you...the community of love and support in the chemo chair and surroundings is like no other. If you have a port, make sure to ask for Lidacaine creams and a patch so that event becomes pain free.
Rest easy my friend and know that we're all pulling for you.

XOXOXOXOXOOXOXO

Take care, Severn. Stay above it, ride the chemo like a wave - there are highs and lows, but if you're calm, you'll stay out of the troughs and will fare much better.

Sev, just for you, because I'm told laughter is the best medicine:

Dead penguins- I never knew this..but it's a fact!

I never knew this about Penguins…

Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins
on the ice in Antarctica - where do they go?
Wonder no more ! ! !

It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic
bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life.
The penguin is very committed to its family and will
mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of
compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.
If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members
of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes
in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is
deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried.
The male penguins then gather in a circle
around the fresh grave and sing:

"Freeze a jolly good fellow"

You can do it, Sev. Just one more day of not chatting up nurses. I KNOW you can do it. Like Spaw says, urges pass. Today, I kept my eyes closed for most of over an hour of a shocking experience during electrodiagnostic nerve tests. Oooo, me nerves. I'd say the trainee was in her early twenties and she was a looker. Of course, I could not nor would not try to chase a lass 30 years younger but that wasn't my concern. >;-)

Saw Severn at our local Mid_Winter festival last Saturday.,,,in fact, I hear him. He and a friend led an opening workshop, and Severn sang well and was in good spirits...and together, they had a great set.

Sev will have his ups & downs during this treatment, but he does all he can and attends events when he is up to it. We are all impressed with his will and fortitude....

(left him several straight lines there...waiting for him to pop in and make puns on my comments)

Hey Friend!

How are those treatments going? How about the aftermath? A very wise Bobert once told me (as I was complaining about not feeling well...tired...didn't want to go to another treatment because I'd just get feeling ok and then they'd clobber me with chemo again)....he told me it was like a boxing match. As time goes on, it gets harder to stand up and keep at it but that there is an end in sight. Hang on my friend. Know that you are being prayed for and good thoughts are coming your way. Feel free to PM and whine any time you want. Been there. Whined the entire way through. It wasn't pretty but it helped me get through.

XOXOXOXOXO
Stay Strong!!!

I did my third round as an out-patient commuter, as my heart scan (originally set for Valentine's Day, but moved up a day) showed that the mass of cancer cells behind the heart had shrunk from 11 1/2 cm to 6 cm. I had my bad chemo days starting the day after the three day session was up.

I somehow managed to crawl out to a brunch with my daughter and her boyfriend who were in from Ohio last Saturday. I wouldn't have left the house for anyone else.

I've another good week to go before I have to deal with another session of three days of treatments.

I've been getting out with friends, making music and helping with research on a friend's theatrical production about the War of 1812 to try to stay busy on my good days.

I had tried to revive the Recovery Room thread, but no one else wanted to play, so I'll post here from time to time.

That is wonderful to hear about the cells behind your heart shrinking. I *see* them completely gone, as well as any other non-conformist little gobshites which may be trying to muck up the works!:-)

And, helping a friend with research is all well and good, but I'd think you'd be better off compiling a book of all of your puns so as to torture the rest of us!**BG**

Really, I do give thanks, every day, for a complete healing, ease and comfort throughout, and a sense of peace in all you do and go through. This, or something better, for the highest good of all concerned. So mote it be.

Well! Well! Well! What a surprise it was to find a parcel all the way from the USA left in my front porch.

It moved me to tears when I realised that my SS was that lovely man Severn. Despite undergoing chemotherapy at the moment, which is knocking him sideways, he took the time and trouble to send me a wonderful collection of Cds and memorabilia.

Thank you so much Severn and all my best wishes for a full recovery to you m'dear.
