Lyr/Chords Req: Shanghaied Rooster

Hey all,

I've been asked by someone to try and find this gem. I've searched all the engines that I thought it might be hiding in to no avail. My friend Buck has aked me about this melody every year for at least five years. Each year I see him at the same event we both attend. In the course of the weekend he brings up whether I've managed to locate it. Has anyone any wisdom regarding where I might be able to dig this one up?

Searching without success, reggie

That's who I had in mind. I've got Shanghai Rooster on a Cliff Carlisle album ~~ somewhere, if I haven't given it away.

'Shanghai Rooster Yodel' is on the Cliff Carlilse CD on Arhoolie: Cliff Carlisle 'Blues Yodeler and Steel Guitar Wizard' Arhoolie CD 7039. 'Rooster Blues' is on 'Cliff Carlisle Vol 2' Old Timey LP 104 and 'Shanghai Rooster No 2' is on 'Cliff Carlisle Vol 1' Old Timey LP 103. The LPs are no longer available, except secondhand, but the CD is recent. Unfortunately, the CD does not include the wonderful 'Mouse's Ear Blues', but is thoroughly recommended.

Cheers, Stewie.

Shanghai chicken grows so tall
Few days, few days,
Almost reached the top of the wall,
And I'm going home.
I've got a home over yonder,
Few days, few days,
I've got a home over yonder,
I'm going home.

That's a play party game I do with my kndergartners; don't know if it's even close to what you're looking for!

There's a Shanghai rooster in most version of Sweet Betsy from Pike, too.
