So the bank holiday weekend of May 4th/5th/6th see's a good variety of acoustic styles gathering in 3 of the seaside town's pubs. Over 70 acts will take part in the Belle Vue, Grapes Inn & Station Pub. But another piece of good news aswell, apart from the Station , another pub, THE IMPERIAL will be throwing open its doors for anybody wanting to just turn up to play/sing. There is something reminiscent of the Sun Inn in Beverley about the IMPERIAL too, so come along and give it ago and the host's Mark & Charlotte will make you feel most welcome. Please contact Derek Waudby or Mick McGarry about singarounds & tunes,(both well known on the yorkshire folk circuit). These 2 guys are hosting sessions at the Station Pub (Derek) & The Imperial Pub (Mick). Filey Folk Festival started again in 2011 after a 4 year lay off following original organiser Robert Hartley's ill health. Robert is back again in his compere and Ram Shackle Shanty Man guise. The new organisers are fairly 'new' to the folk festival scene but judging by last years revival, they started pretty well. And that's why it's back. So 4 venues altogether, all FREE entry, well over 80 pre-booked acts, with one venue that's TOTALLY informal for singarounds (IMPERIAL PUB). Plenty of caravan/campervan/camping/guest houses/b&bs nearby. |
