Rick Fielding At Greenbank

Saw Rick Fielding with Curly Boy Stubbs at the Greenbank Folk Society show last night. I had only heard Rick on his Radio show before. What a wonderful evening. The venue is an old church that has been restored. The acoustics are outstanding, the hall has a warm quaint feeling, I'll definately go back to hear others there.

Rick was outstanding, he played six and twelve string guitars, autoharp and Five String. He mixed his sets very well playing mostly his own material but this material was quite varied covering trad, gospel, bluegrass, jazz and a very nice acoustic cover of the Beatles "In My Life." Curly Boy Stubbs and a bass player whose name escapes me provided excellent accompaniment on most songs. Rick and Curly Boy traded Riffs and quips very well. I can't wait to get a chance to listen to his new CD.

Met Mudcatters Little Neophyte and Faded Denim. It's always nice to put faces to posters.

If Rick is going to appear in your area, be sure to go, it's well worth the price of admission.

Wow! Thanks Steve. That guy on bass is Greg Monk (from the album). Yeah... more Mudcatters meet.

Kool! I've head that Beatles rendition, on Mike Regenstreif's show. Loved it; better than the original actually, Rick!

Rick was amazing! Even wore a suit jacket. Unfortunatley I was only able to see half of the show. I brought my granny who started wilting before the second half. (don't take it personally Rick, she wilts often) He is a remarkabley talented musician.

You'll also be able to see Rick live at his Album launch concert, at the Acoustic Harvest Folk Club, on Saturday, November 6th, 8:00 PM... The club runs out of the basement of the Birch Cliff United Church, 33 East Road (corner of Warden & Kingston Rd) in Toronto... You'll get more of the same fine music, with the same musicians, andpossibly others as well. And Little Neo, if you make it to this one you can stay until the end if you leave granny at home :>)...

Davey
Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend Rick's next launching. I will be in Hawaii at the Big Island hiking to the top of that volcano they are so famous for. Never been to Hawaii and I am quite excited about the trip. Though, I really would have liked to attend Rick's entire performance, and I would have enjoyed meeting you too Davey.

Too bad Litle Neo (about you missing the concert, not your Hawaii trip,it sounds wonderful). Are you in the Toronto area? If so, perhaps I can put your name on my email list to keep you advised of our upcoming concerts.. Send me a private note if you want to be added, and have a safe and delightful trip.
