BS: Mingulay off the water

Greetings mudpeople. Yes folks, after 23 years on the tidal part of the Grand Union Canal Pierre Le Bateau has been forced to come ashore and take root on terra firma. In the end it was not a difficult decision to make as increasing problems with mobility meant that I could only get aboard with great difficulty and get ashore again with even greater difficulty. Social Services did come up with some wild and woolly ideas involving hoists etc., but of course they had no idea what a boat was or where it was moored.

Fortunately during an 8 week stay in hospital for a third femoral bypass Hillingdon council offered me a ground floor flat in sheltered accomodation, an offer I couldn't refuse. So I packed my kit bag and, singing the Farewell Shanty, made my way ashore.

If you happen to be in my address book you will shortly be getting a missive containing my new details, if not PM me and I'll think about it.

Hopefully I'll be able to get along to the odd event ot two later this summer, so look out for the usual bearded suspect on a small red scooter and offer him a pint(never known to refuse).

Regards to all - Pete.

PS: Bribes most welcome - cash or Paypal only.

If you'd moved down to Canary Wharf the financial wizards there could have rigged you up a bonus's chair.

Nice one Paul, but a proper wizard tried levitation and only got me 6 inches off the ground before his 'power' ran out. Still nursing the bruises!

Wow, what a mindfuck. I thought this thread was about something like "A Chinese nuclear submarine surfaced in the Outer Hebrides today and blew the Scottish island of Mingulay off the water."

Glad it's not that bad.

Hey Mingulay.... good to see your name on here again..... Just resurrected the Blitherscrum 2012 thread when I saw you were back... you must have been gone almost two years. Welcome back and good to know you're in the land of the living!

Hi all, I have transited reasonably smoothly considering I only had the offer of the flat 3 days before I was discharged from hospital. Charley, if you can get to the bar I will gladly buy a round, otherwise I'll send you a pint by Fedex! You're nearly right michaelr, but it was in fact a North Korean sail powered sub that ran into the island during the hours of darkness knocking off a piece of rock and frightening two gannets. Actually GS it's the land of the living dead lol. Glad to se that Blitherscrum is still going (I hope the toilet situation has been rectified and there now holes in the seats). Must remember to book my ticket.

Since I left the water the tide seems to be coming in vertically. Most curious!

Amos, I did manage to swallow the anchor, perhaps it was just a fluke!
