Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess The monthly shanty, forebitter and ballad session will be this Saturday, 15 September from 3:30 to 7:30 PM at the Press Room in Portsmouth, NH. I know, kind of catches people off guard when the first Saturday is also the first of the month! Anyway, this will be a great opportunity to warm up for the 13th annual Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival which will be the last weekend of the month, September 29th & 30th. I'm tied up doing a special event with Roll & Go that evening at the Portland Museum of Art, associated with the artist Winslow Homer. Life is unfair! Smallish group, and Tom Kastle never made an appearance, but we managed to drown out a sound check upstairs. Also made Don Hale work harder than usual. Let's see, who all was there (my notes are in the other room)... Besides Tom and I, singers included Jeri, Marty Stock, Don Hale, Dianne Lavoie, Jeff Keller, Justine Donovan, Peter Bixby, and joiners in included Bill Lehrman and Carol Pierson, Steve Smith, Sharon and Lou Stamas... I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting someone, but I'll correct the list and start the play list later. Some good songs I've never heard, a bit of silliness (and bawdry) inspired by naughty bits and country and western lyrics. Linn |
