BS: All Politics All the Time - Pls new section?

I know a lot of folk music is entwined with politics, but I'm not talking music here. I am asking for a separate section just for ALL political threads. A quick glance of the BS section shows just a few gems among a plethora of political threads and their spin-offs; it looks a bit like Faux News has taken over.

What say the rest of you?

I'm okay with it, Kat...

I think there should be a 4th category as well... One just for the Obama haters...

What sort of birth certificate would I need to log into that?

The Brits need their own section for politics and another one for Hull.

Serious suggestions. No guest posts below the line. Have the OP name show up in the title line.

If you think arguments about 'what is folk music' are bad - wait till this lot start on 'what is politics'! ;>)>

I think "stupid" is more obnoxious than politics (although they frequently overlap).

I'd be happy with little check boxes by thread titles that would let us eliminate those threads, AND the posts from those threads, from our personal views.

We don't have to define anything if we're only arranging things for ourselves.

MartinRyan is right: my first thought when I saw the thread title was, "Define politics!"

Besides, aren't most of us from the generation that claimed "the personal *is* political"?

I think it does us all good to read the political rants of our foreign friends. As a Canadian, I am most entertained by alla youse when you're orating from your various soapboxes -- and how the hell else am I supposed to learn what all those strange Facebook posts are about?

And if alla youse find Canuck discussion about Mr Harper and preoccupation with hockey boring -- well, no one's making you look.

Canadian politics was a lot more interesting when there were 2 viable parties.

It has been decided (in the past) that Guests can now start BS threads. (I preferred when they could only start Music threads).
Why not split BS in two, with separate sections for BS threads started by guests, and those started by members?

The majority of the political threads right now have been either started by one person or as copycat threads to threads started by that person. That person does not seem to engage in any other activity on this forum but political "(de)baiting" and I have never seen that person say anything positive about anything or anyone. Not even the political leaders he supposedly supports. Not even about himself.

If steps were taken to curtail this activity, I believe in the long run, that everyone would be happier, especially him.

Though I do realize that Bobert would have to find someone else to mock.

Hey, he'd still have me...

I think yer right, Jack, that the Brits need their own BS-political arguin' section all to themselves. In the first place, they talk about stuff no one else can make heads of tails of half the time, and further to that, they get even nastier about it for the most part than us North Americans do. Ya get the impression life must be pretty stressful in the UK for their people to be so crabby. Maybe it's the lousy food or something? Or maybe just too much rain?

Why not give the Muricans their own section? After all, they've taken isolationism to its utter limits!

You can't call it isolationism when a country goes all over the world, invadin' places and fightin' wars and buildin' military bases. That is the opposite of isolationism.

Which just goes to show, Chongo Chimp, that Muricans still can't get a grip on irony!

You said that to a Canadian pretending to be an chimpanzee with US citizenship. You tell me who doesn't have a grip on irony.

My own impression was that most of BS was nonsense / chitchat with about ten percent stuff about politics and wider world issues.

A separate politics section sounds great. So does a separate religion section. Or lump 'em together under "Politics and Religion".

The problem is that current events topics which may not be overtly political bleed over into politics. It's sometimes hard to draw a clear line.

When Michael Moore's next film comes out, will it be possible to discuss its artistic merits without delving into Mr. Moore's politics? Probably not. Would that automatically cast it out of the regular BS section and into the netherworld of politics?
