24 Sep 12 - 05:27 PM (#3409579) Subject: BS: Cats on Vancouver Island From: Cats Decided I coukldn't say no to an invitation to visit friends who live near vcitoria on Vancouver Island the last week in October / first week in November. Is there anything going on I shouldn't miss? songs or storytelling? suggestions from anyone around as to what I should go and see apart from the obvious. I have been once before and went up to Tofino but this time will probably stay nearer to Victoria although I do have a car |

25 Sep 12 - 04:06 AM (#3409783) Subject: RE: BS: Cats on Vancouver Island From: John MacKenzie There's a catter called Jim something, can't remember his name exactly, but he's an expat Scot, and he came to one of my early October gatherings. He easily won the prize for furthest travelled attendee at the event. |

25 Sep 12 - 03:53 PM (#3410068) Subject: RE: BS: Cats on Vancouver Island From: Backwoodsman Alert Bay (access by short ferry trip from Campbell River) has a fine First Nations settlement and excellent museum. Fabulous totem poles too. Cathedral Grove, on the road to Tofino, has fantastic, huge Douglas Firs. Close by is the town of Coombs, with the renowned 'Goats On The Roof' store and cafe. Some nice stuff in the food store. The gardens in Victoria, although I don't know how they'll be at this time of year - it was June when I was there. |
25 Sep 12 - 07:47 PM (#3410165) Subject: RE: BS: Cats on Vancouver Island From: frogprince We spent a few days on the island seven years ago. There were no goats on the roof at Coombs, and we understood there hadn't been for awhile. Anyone know if they're back? We really enjoyed Bamfield, Tofino, Schooner Trail thru the rainforest...I found Wickannish Beach just stunning, could spend any amount of time there with a camera. |
