26 Oct 99 - 11:26 PM (#128447) Subject: Roy's flood Project From: Cricket In Canyon Lake, TX As you might have read, my friend Roy lost everything he owned in a flash flood last year in Central Texas. He literally walked away with the shirt on his back and his wedding ring. I am trying to replace as many songs with chords as I can as a first year "anniversary" gift. He and the rest of the faculty and staff at my school are shocked that I have come out my computer shell and dived into the net, but this is too much fun. Am I in a chat room? Roy is specifically looking for James Taylor, John Prine, John Denver, Gordon Lioghtfoot--any songs from these guys. Please post here for not just Roy, but all those who need some basics. Thanks guys... |

27 Oct 99 - 05:00 AM (#128501) Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: IT'S A SIN TO TELL A LIE From: Melbert Hi Cricket. I posted this in answer to someone else's query a few days ago. Not sure if this is the definitive version, but I got it from a John Denver TV show, and the simple chord arrangement has stood me in good stead for many years. According to JD's intro this song had special meaning to him as it was "mom's favourite song in the whole world". Be sure it's (G)true when you (D)say I (G)love you its a (G)sin to (B7)tell a (C)lie (D)Millions of hearts have been (G)broken (A7)just because these words were (D)spoken I love (G)you yes I (D)do I l(G)ove you If you (G)break my (B7)heart I'll (C)die So be (C)sure it's true when you (G)say I love (E)you It's a (A7)sin to (D)tell a (G)lie
Cross my heart, hope to die Perhaps not the most auspicious start to your collection, but a start nevertheless" Best wishes Mel
