30 Oct 12 - 05:03 PM (#3428532) Subject: RE: Gig plug Newcastle Folk Degree From: Howard Jones Looking at the course modules I'm struck by the apparent absence of any specific study of music from Great Britain. There are modules on jazz, Indian, Yiddish Black and Irish music, but no mention of England Scotland or Wales. |

01 Nov 12 - 06:53 AM (#3429251) Subject: RE: Gig plug Newcastle Folk Degree From: GUEST,Big Al Whittle I expect it will become a bit like teaching - an all degree profession. Those of us who are unqualified will have to stick to singing Jim Reeves greatest hits on karaoke machines. |

If it starts moving too far in that direction I think there'd be a grass roots reaction against it - a folk equivalent of punk vs prog in the 70s. PS Nowt wrong with Jim Reeves! |
