Lyr Req: Song with name of Gods

I can't remember the first line of the song, or its title.

However Christy Moore sings it and the chorus has a list of the nonChristian gods.

Does someone know its name/first line please.

It's a song called "The Burning Times" . There was a thread on it some time ago. Try refreshing back one year with Burning Times.

Cheers

JJJH Smith wasn't a god. He just thought he was.

When I first saw this thread I thought it was going to be Old Time Religion-- 'it's good enough for me" but it wasn't

The myth of the "Burning Times" is discussed in this book review and in this author's reply. According to this line on inquiry, it is a projection of the discredited Murray thesis into an American political context.
