I think though that it has a lot more to do with buckling under public and media pressure than any desire to do the right thing. Both of our countries have slipped badly in offering human compassion in recent years and that is a pity! Said that because an order had been issued, it had to be executed as she was considered a criminal at THAT point and the fact that she left Canada "allowed" the compassionate consideration. If she she had not left, there could not have been such. Smart laywer if he wasn't TOLD to say that to save face for the miserable bastards. I wonder if the bastards will pay her legal fees? And, this crap about being granted a three year residency permit? Don't get me started on why they did that... health care $! At least next time they will will extend the permit without all the crap... hopefully. |
