BS: Anyone else like The Voice?

I enjoy it. I like to evaluate the performances and see if I can predict the winners.

They replaces my two favorite coaches this season. But I like the replacements even more. Shakira is very funny and charming.

My favorites this time are

Monique Abbadie

She is bilingual, a flawless and emotional vocalist and and experienced performer very comfortable on stage. I pick her as most likely to win.

Warren Stone

This guy literally is one of the best make country vocalists I have ever heard. He did a Zach Brown band song without backing vocals and out sang Zach and his whole band. A very strong contender, probably top 4 material.

Ryan Innes

I just enjoy this guy's voice. I think he'll be top 8, but in the end it comes down to little girls voting and downloaded songs.

Usher has a number of superb R&B people on his team. But I don't know enough about the genre to say who is better.

There is girl named Danielle Bradbery on Blake's team who stands out a little for cuteness, the rest seem pretty even.

There is a duo on Adams called Midas Whale on Adam's team who are a lot of fun. I'd go to see them if they played here.

BTW there is a "The Voice Australia" apparently. Is there a verion in any other countries?

I like the show because it's premise is vocal TALENT. Of course, as soon as the chairs spin, it's just like all the other vocal talent shows. And I like listening to all artists. I am listening to one as I type.

Yeah, I do...sometimes. Sometimes they've got really good talent.

That's true Gnu, But all the ones they turn for have a lot of talent and technical skills. The question is how are they distinguished from there. I've learned a lot of things from the coaching. Mostly about the vocal skills that I lack and will never have.

JtS... after the "spin", they are distinguished by the whole package, incuding marketability and that includes the works such as the "Pretty Factor". So, essentially, it's the same but different.

And, I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday. They had to audition for SOMEone to get on TV in the first place. It's just another talent show and my "like" is the hook line. Perhaps my post above was misleading... I like the concept of the show because it adds the premise I cited and such makes it more entertaining, even for someone as cynical as me. Even more so, the fact that the stars vie for being chosen as coach by the artist makes for great entertainment.

In any case, I like all talent shows because they give a lot of people a chance at a break. What I detest is the airing of untalented people in embarrassing situations... I think it is akin to bullying and it's just plain wrong ta this here little black duck.

Yeah, on the voice, they are pretty much all pros. No comedy from embarrassing people.

Yeah after the voting starts, in the USA at least, you have to think in terms of who teenaged girls would vote for.

the voice...... that was on Bill Cosby's first album, wasn't it? Something about Noah. Like 1963?

Love The Voice. Love Shakira and Usher as replacements for CeeLo and whats-her-face-whiny-pain. I only wish they would keep the current judge lineup.

I can't imagine the winner of the Voice in the UK last year had much of a teenage girl fan base. The winning judge was Tom Jones rather than Jessie J or Will I Am or the other young guy - and the winning act just wasn't a teen idol as such. This has happened before on similar shows like PopIdol/X Factor when the likes of Steve Bernstein and Michelle McManus have won. Neither of those were ever going to sell much to a teenage girl audience. The producers of the shows right enough must love it if someone who can sell to a teenage audience wins rather than people who are going to get voted for by an older audience who often doesn't then go on to slavishly buy the music product itself.

Cynic alert... ever notice that REALLY talented performers get voted off near the end and the media makes headlines out of the shock of it all? Makes for great TV and for great signing deals for the investors. Also gets the REAL talent to market sooner. Doesn't happen ALL the time but I find it happens MOST of the time.

As for my fav talent show, gimmie Troy Landry every year. That is one good ol boy! Welcome to the swamp. (Swamp People... as real as reality shows get.)
