30 Apr 13 - 01:34 PM (#3510469) Subject: Lyr Add: GOD BLESS THE UNEMPLOYED (Lea Nicholson) From: G-Force As promised: GOD BLESS THE UNEMPLOYED (AN ANTHEM) - Lea Nicholson God bless the unemployed And shame on those who work, for they it is who spoil the world, and not those who shirk. There was a time, not long ago, A future was conceived That man he would no longer work His tasks would be relieved. He'd always have enough to eat And a place to rest his head. And while machines they did the work He could stay in bed. The time it has already come, But they're too blind to see. They brand the man that doesn't work They treat me shamefully. They pay me less than those who build The scrapheaps in the sky, Then they talk about pollution I often wonder why. They could make a car last 100 years, Car builders needn't sweat. But they'd rather have the latest make So they are working yet. They build their toys to last a while, And then they fall apart, So they can throw them on the scrapheap And make another start. There was a time not long ago, A future was conceived That man he would no longer work His tasks would be relieved. The time it came, man missed his chance, And so he passed away, A victim of the circumstance, He knew no other way. So God bless the unemployed And shame on those who worked, For they it was who spoilt the world And not those who shirked. |

I was around Stan at that time when he was living in Ancoats and Moss Side and remember the precursors to some of the songs. |
