A note to all lovers of Graeme Miles's songs. If you are attending Whitby Folk Week, a concert has been arranged to celebrate Graeme's life through his songs, prose and pictures. Spa Theatre, Tuesday, 20th Aug. 3pm to 5pm. Guest artists include Martyn Wyndham Read and Iris Bishop, Anna Shannon, The Wilsons, Bill Whaley and Dave Fletcher, Craig, Morgan Robson, Ailsa MacKenzie, Colin Mather, Alex Angel, John Wilson, Mick Madden and others. As you know, Graeme died earlier this year and this is the first large celebration of his life and work. There will be wonderful songs, wonderful singing and wonderful prose, all Graeme's work. Hope to see you there.

I would like to thank everyone who came to this absolutely brilliant concert on Tuesday afternoon. It was a memorable event. Thank you to those who came and paid to get in with tickets or just came for that occasion and for contributing to Teesside Hospice funds. The afternolon raised about £243.

As one of the performers at the concert I was so pleased to see the theatre almost full and would like to thank the audience for their appreciative applause and comments.
I know that Annie (Graeme's wife) was very pleased and felt that it was a fitting tribute to Graeme's talent as a songwriter.
I would also like to mention Ken Hall from Whitby (not the other one) who at short notice pulled together a very enjoyable, if at times emotional, event.

I've heard some criticisms of the concert but I, for one, really enjoyed it. The songs were the star and everyone who sang did them justice. Of course, you can always find fault with the choice of songs and I was a bit disappointed that no one sang "Ring of Iron" but I thought there was a good cross section of his songs.

Well done to those who put the concert together, to those who sang and, of course, to Ken who did an excellent job as MC.

I'm saddened that there were criticisms but then there are armchair critics at any event.

Given that , due to lack of time, the event was totally unrehearsed I felt that everyone gave 100% and as the event was presenting a number of "lesser known" songs some people were bound to be disappointed.

However, there will be opportunities in the future for people to hear more with the November Concerts at Saltburn and Cecil Sharp House.
