Well, with all these accusations of President Obama being a socialist and also being left handed I was kinda wondering if any of my three cats might be leaning leftie, if you get my drift...

So, is you cat or dog left pawed??? If so, then you might want to keep an eye on them...

B;~)

All three of my cats and both of my dogs used to scuff up the ground to cover their droppings with their REAR paws.

I never even thought of such. Kinda gives ya pause, don't it?

I left them as nature intended. :)

Two of my Siamese cat lie down with their paws folded like a human, and the right one is underneath. They're brothers, so I wonder if they've inherited this, and could it be left-pawedness? The other one (not related to them but loves them dearly) doesn't lie with his paws crossed, so I don't know what he is. But he's the most unselfish and caring of the three; the other two are out for themselves most of the time!

You did right, Ebbie. Others complain about being left unpawed.

There wasn't a chain left unpawed in HER apt. When we moved into a house, I laid down the no paw law.

Pointer dogs can be left or right pawed - I had a Labrador which would happily shake paws, but only with the left.

Small mammals such as hamsters and mice can be taught by others to work flaps or levers to get through covered holes and if they see it done with a particular paw they copy the movement.

I'd be a bit wary of assuming that handedness had anything to do with the outlooks of cats. Your basic cat only tolerates the presence of Humans due to the existence of
a) shelves
b) tins
c) refrigerators

not that they mind them, as it keeps food out of reach of others, and all they have to do is train their Humans to feed them when asked or told to do so. Any apparent political attitude is, I suspect, just part of the training regime.

Politically speaking, all my cats fall into the Benevolent Dictator category.

My cat occasionally plays 'soccer' with a styrofoam ball, and is definitely right-pawed. She plays goalie by crouching under the rocking chair, and when we shoot the ball to her, she bats it away, always with her right paw.

She doesn't seem to have any politics.

Our cat is definitely ambipawstrous. She scratches me with both.

One of my Dachshunds was left for dead one time, Bobert, after attempting to consume 20 lbs of spare rib bones, but none of them has ever been left pawed. At least...I don't think so.
