BS: Who was Mohamed's mum?

I forget.
Someone claiming to be Muslim in Nairobi did not know either and was shot dead.
Might be worth looking such things up just in case.

Much more straightforward to just blow up a church, as in Peshawar.
No danger of killing Muslims there.

I think it is, Amina bint Tawahab bint zuhra bint khuzaym bin kilab. But there where also 4 other women involved in bringing him up, as Amina died when he was 6.

Yes, Keith is correct. It was Aminah bint Wahb

Was watching live texting on Singapore GP so a quick bit of cutting and pasting was more exciting than the GP.

Thanks Keith.
I hope I can remember that under pressure.

That would make an excellent password for an online shopping account. But the Fundamentalists would probably object to such a sacriligious desecration, and send the Taliban round for 'An Informal Chat'.

By the way (serious thread drift) I was in Tunisia last week at the beautiful old mosque in Kairouan (World Heritage Site). The gatekeeper lent me a veil so I could go in as far as the courtyard. My Muslim husband went into the mosque itself to pray, after using the 'ablutions'. As I sat on a chair outside swathed in this thick (and hot) veil thing, the gatekeeper spent about twenty minutes berating me for not converting to Islam. He said it was terrible for my husband, and becoming one of 'Them' would be better for all concerned. I held my tongue with difficulty and smiled sweetly. (Recording Angel please note) How I kept my temper I'll never know. I tried to imagine the same scenario the other way round. Imagine sitting in Saudi Arabia telling some Muslim guy he should definitely become a Christian. You'd be boiled in oil.

What's more in doubt is the identity of his father. In the Hadith I've seen two references to his unusually pale skin. If that is not a result of motherly naughtiness, then it could just be connected with the glandular condition that gave him coarse features, violent moods and impotence. Or so I've read. Like it matters.
