THE ICELANDIC GOVERNMENT has announced that it will write off household mortgage debt in order to kickstart the economy.

Under the plan, every household in the country will have €24,000 worth of debt written off.

It should be noted that both Iceland and Ireland are on the up and up being now 13th. and fourteenth in the World whilst England has slipped to sixteenth and has now been on a downward trajectory for some time. If they lose Scotland with its oil and other exports they will be further downnrated by the money moguls.

Guest, does England rate separately in the world or do you mean the UK? When Scotland is independent the other new country will be rUK, i.e. England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

"GUEST"s are supposed to include a name of some sort. Please delete these entries.

IF a name is supposed to be included why does the system permit anonymoys posts?

Guest,
As of today`s news on international credit rating, UK is considered AAA while both Iceland and Ireland are BBB+.

04 Dec 13 - 03:58 PM (#3581493)

From the 2013 Worldwide Prosperity Index :----
UK.       16th. place---down three places from 2012
Iceland    13th. place.
Ireland    12th. place.

UK credit rating downgraded to AA+ from AAA on 22/2/13.

This took place one day before a document, prepared at great expense to the taxpayer, and prepared by Westminster for the NO campaign against the YES side in the forthcoming Scottish Referendum set out dire warnings for a downgrading of the Scottish credit rating should a yes vote occur. Naturally this document had been widely leaked by Westminster to create a greater sense of fear in the populace as previous and subsequent papers from the same source have attempted.
Such messages of doom produced by an organisation which cannot even forecast what is about to happen in their own back yard are worth thousands of votes to the YES campaign. Needless to say the complete print run had to be pulped amid assurances that "lessons would be learned". As far as can be ascertained no dismissals took place following this fiasco.

GUEST... read the rules. Abide by the rules. The rules are the rules because they are the rules and they rule.

Apologies to Jean Chretien.

Names are not required. The lack of them annoys some people.

"IF a name is supposed to be included why does the system permit anonymoys posts?"

One reason is because blocking some IP addresses is almost impossible without blocking the innocent. Another is that major code revisions would have to be written in order to require a membership or distinct name, and the real expert code writer is no longer with us.

Deleting totally anonymous 'guest' posting in the BS area was tried during some of the worst times, but the mods simply could not keep up, and even trying caused confusion in the flow of posts.

So..Max seems to have decreed they not try unless posting was really egregious. That does NOT mean it is polite or friendly to babble on anonymously...especially when several cowards ummm...'guests' go on in the same thread, making it hard to respond to anyone in particular.

What used to be the rule and is still requested, is that everyone use a consistent name, even if it is not a registered one. It is a fair request.. it still allows anonymity... and it is polite- not that some give a rats ass about politeness.

Bill, I agree right up to "cowards". What I think happens is some very stupid people don't know whether they should agree with a post or disagree if they don't know who wrote it. Knowing a person's identity saves them the trouble of understanding the message. If someone's being obnoxious, it's a different thing, but most of them are less obnoxious than the anal-retentive "I MUST KNOW WHO YOU ARE!" types.

It CAN lead to confusion when one isn't sure which guest they're talking to, but they could quote the bit they're responding to. My main feeling on this is that most of the time, the argument against anonymous posting is far more disruptive than the anonymous posts.

Take this thread, for example, which was intended to be about iceland wriring off debts.

I will be more transparent next time.

Captain Byrd's Swank posted ... inappropriate material in the upper kingdom.

He was chastised. The thread was noted and placed in the lower pit.

Please carry on discussion of the Icelandic folly.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

From Forbes "Best Country For Business" 2013 published 4/12/13 :----
Iceland---15th.---up from 19th. Nov. 2012
Ireland---1st.----up from 6th. Nov. 2012.
GB    ---12th.---down from 10th. Nov. 2012.

Surely indications of a trend from accepted international sources.
