17 Mar 08 - 12:06 AM (#2290285) Subject: Lyr Add: FEEL SO NEAR (Dougie MacLean) From: Jim Dixon From http://home.wish.net/~nisto/feelnear.htm FEEL SO NEAR Dougie Maclean 1. You'll find me sitting at this table With my friend Finn and my friend John My friend Murdaney tells us stories Of things long gone, long gone And we may take a glass together The whisky makes it all so clear It fires our dulled imaginations And I feel so near, so near CHORUS: Feel so near, to the howling of the winds Feel so near, to the crashing of the waves Feel so near, to the flowers in the field Feel so near 2. The old man looks out to the island He says this place is endless thin There's no real distance here to mention We might all fall in, all fall in No distance to the spirits of the living No distance to the spirits of the dead And as he turned his eyes were shining And he proudly said, he proudly said 3. And so we build our tower constructions There to mark our place in time We justify our great destructions As on we climb, on we climb Now the journey doesn't seem to matter The destination's faded out We're gathering out along the headland I hear the children shout, the children shout |

04 Nov 09 - 08:10 PM (#2759800) Subject: RE: Lyr/Tune/Chord Add: Feel So Near (Dougie Maclean) From: GUEST,Racer krewllobster: Sounds pretty good with a capo on the third fret. The sus4's seem to make more sense that way. I couldn't get them to sound right without the capo. What are your thoughts on the chorus? I played with it for a few minutes and I came up with: I feel so [F]near to the howling of the [Bb]winds I feel so [F]near to the crashing of the [Bb]waves I feel so [Dm]near to the [Csus4]flowers in the [Bb]fields Feel so near [F] [Bb] [F] [Bb] When y'all talk about C tuning are you talking about open C tuning? I can't think of how to make that work. |

05 Dec 09 - 12:36 AM (#2781074) Subject: RE: Lyr/Tune/Chord Add: Feel So Near (Dougie Macle From: GUEST,Racer I hate to revive an old thread, but I have CDO (OCD in alphabetical order). I was listening to this the other day and I realized that I missed something. I was using the Dm in the chorus because the Csus4 needed it as a lead in. Below is how that line should be played: I feel so [F]near to the [Dm]flowers [Csus4]in the [Bb]fields I also think that the intro is [F] [Bb maj7]; I can hear the A being played in both chords. I don't know if that carries through to the rest though. There's too much going on at that point for me to tell. |
