HEY, JOHNNY MCGORRY

Hey, Johnny McGory, tell me, where's your glory gone?
I saw you up in the Monto with your old leg gone.
A dirty Flanders bullet, sure it left you half a man
Hey, Johnny McGory, where's your old leg gone?

Up the Sally Gardens, around the back of the pipes,
Messing with the liberty bell a man could loose his stripes.
Tradin' on your troubles and grabbin' every chance,
To show the randy oul' ones all the things you learned in France.

Up t'the Gloucester Diamond, Red Biddy on your mind,
Not a tosser in your pocket, not a soul you could remind.
The Lord knows you're a darlin', you never did give in.
Your neck's as hard as concrete and your laugh's a mortal sin.

Monday in the Ivy, Tuesday in the dregs
Wednesday's walkin' wounded, Thursday [sold] your bags    [stole]Friday's heroes on the touch, and Saturday's lost again,
Then with Sunday's good intentions, sure you start the week again.

Went to look for a couple words I couldn't catch, and found
lyrics evidently taken from something fuzzier than my source -
the above is what I hear on my 1998 CD (KBOX 3122-B) of The
Dubliners put out by Weton-Besgram BV from Oud-Beijerland, NL.

Looks like the one you have on file has been there since '97 or
so without anybody worrying about the gaps, but here it is anyway.
