I figured that if I did it for nothing I wouldn't be compromising my professional values. On the other hand I would need to check with the Musician's Union to see what the going rates are here in Ausfralia - I haven't been a member for the last few years.
At the risk of thread creep I've made it a point to either charge full price for a performance - or zero. The old idiom is "If you pay peanuts you get monkeys".
