31 Jul 14 - 12:02 AM (#3646810) Subject: BS: SHARKNADO From: LadyJean You would think I'd know better than to have Sharknado on, but I do. It's about sharks eating people in New York. As opposed to the previous Sharknado that was about sharks eating people in California. But, I thought I'd issue a mudcat challenge. Finish this sentence. I saw "Sharknado" and________________ I'm sure I'll get some creative responses. |

02 Aug 14 - 01:40 PM (#3647718) Subject: RE: BS: SHARKNADO From: Don Firth If they're going to do sharks, they're missing a bet by not going back a million and a half years. Imagine a Great White shark the size of a sperm whale! Such a critter did exist: Megaladon. This is not the whale shark, which is getting up there in size, but it's a fairly placid critter and it's essentially toothless. It cruises along with its mouth open. It's a plankton sifter, time some whales. Essentially harmless, just big. Megaladon has teeth. Take a look at this monster: Clicky. There are some marine biologists that maintain that there is evidence the a few Megalodons still exist. Hunts for the monster have not turned up any, but they've turned up evidence that they say is "promising." And then, of course, there is the giant squid. The claim is that they live about 5,000 down, and there is quite a bunch of them in the depths of the Indian Ocean in particular. The favorite meal of the sperm whale is giant squid. The favorite meal of the giant squid is sperm whale, who dive to depths of 5,000 feet looking for lunch. Some pretty titanic battles take place in the depths of the ocean. Whalers have seen rows of sucker scars on sperm whales the size of dinner plates. Lotsa great movie monster potential out there….. Don Firth |

19 May 15 - 04:35 PM (#3710072) Subject: RE: BS: Sharknado From: Anne Lister I have never seen (nor wanted to see) Sharknado BUT apparently the producer was very impressed recently with a very low budget film my husband is in, which is a film called "Granny of the Dead", to the extent that in the opening credits it now has the producer of Sharknado listed as "Executive Producer". We're hoping it might help with distribution. If you like low budget (and funny) zombie films try to get "Granny of the Dead" to your local favourite cinema and look out for the cameo role of the postman (which is my husband, who luckily for me doesn't normally look the way he looks for much of the rest of the film). |
