On November 8, 2014, at 7 PM, Joyce Katzberg and Jimmy Warren return to Stone Soup Coffeehouse!

I don't know if anyone has come to Stone Soup Coffeehouse because of the posts I've put on Mudcat, but if any of you are interested in these performers and are in the area I hope you will join us. If you do come, I hope I will get to meet you!

Stone Soup Coffeehouse has moved back to the Slater Mill, 67 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02862. There is a parking lot next to the mill and another one across the street. To be sure you get a ticket, please use the PayPal link on Stone Soup's website or come early. http://www.stonesoupcoffeehouse.com/

(The mailing address is Stone Soup Folk Ats Foundation, P.O. Box 1664, Pawtucket, RI 02860.)

Stone Soup Coffeehouse is still just a few blocks from Rt. 95 tucked between Providence and the Massachusetts state line. You can find directions at the link above or at the Slater Mill website, http://www.slatermill.org/
. The historic Slater Mill was the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution.

This year, Stone Soup has a new starting time. All concerts will begin at 7 PM. Doors open at 6:30.

In my original post, I should have added that this evening will be "fragrance-free." One of the performers has allergies to scents, and this is a relatively safe concert for audience members who also have allergies.

What does "fragrance-free" mean? Of course you should tend to your normal hygiene routine, but please do not add on perfume, cologne, etc. Keep it simple!

Also, the evening will start with a HOOT! If you wish to perform, please come early and sign up!

Word has reached me via a comment on one of the performer's Facebook page that someone who will be going to this concert has booked a room at the Comfort Inn near Stone Soup. Rhode Island being such a small state with much of MA and CT not very far away, I am wondering where this audience member is from.

I should add that Saturday night'so concert has a title: "Pete, Malvina, and Me." That's Pete as in Seeger, Malvina as in Reynolds. Joyce and Jimmy have already participated in several Pete Seeger tribute concerts, and Joyce has been singing Malvina'so songs for many years. I am looking forward to their music and imagine there will be some singing along.

Also, again, the evening starts with a HOOT, so if you want to show us what you can do, come early and sign up. We've met some talented people throughout the years.

It was a great night. I always enjoy hearing Joyce and Jimmy and seek them out at other venues. Also, we had some good singers at the HOOT and filled all the slots, something that has rarely happened recently, and I know that nobody who wanted to perform had to be turned away.
