My comment: I watched a short bit of this. Image and sound and
not very good - looks like perhaps 8mm film, but it is wonderful
to see Pete at that time, with Johnny Cash, Clearwater, Rev.Kirkpatrick

"The legendary American Folk singer's career had been seriously knocked off course by the McCarthy witch-hunts into Unamerican Activities in the USA affecting artists believed to be communists. At one stage Seeger was facing a ten year prison sentence, but he managed to visit the UK in 1958. The concert was recorded and issued by the Folklore label which emanated out of the Dobell's record shop on Charing Cross road in West London. In 1964 he was back again and at one concert, at Manchester's Free Trade Hall, he was recorded again.

Both concerts on this DOUBLE CD FOR THE PRICE OF ONE set are typical Seeger material of that time. He talks about his friends Leadbelly and Woody Guthrie and champions new songwriters like Tom Paxton and Malvina Reynolds. The concerts also give a wonderful insight to how Seeger worked an audience and had them eating out of his hand. His ability to engage the audience is an object lesson for young performers. The Folklore LPs had limited circulation and the Manchester concert has never been heard before. The booklet comes with an informative essay about Pete Seeger by Joe Stead. "

I hadn't heard of the audiobook Pete Seeger: The Storm King, and I'm intrigued. The production has a Website:
I think "Storm King" was the name of Pete's record label. There's a Storm King Mountain across the Hudson River and a bit downstream from Pete's home in Beacon, New York. When I drove the highway on the west side of the Hudson several years ago, it was a treacherous but beautiful drive to get around Storm King.

Hi Joe,
My recollection, without searching, is STORMKING was Pete's music publishing company.
The storm king CDs are imo a wonderful resource, great to hear Pete's stories, recollections, and philosophy in his last years - I think they were broadcast on NPR a few years ago.
The IN ENGLAND CDs will be available through the usual sources
at the end of July, probably sooner via the FELLSIDE website (which is being updated). If anyone is interested give them a few days
to get up and running. Seeger fans probably have the FOLKLORE LPs, but I look forward to having them on much more convenient CD format, as well as getting the additional previously unreleased concert.
Cheers, Thomas.

There's an interesting segment on NPR's All Things Considered today about the May 3 release of Pete Seeger: The Smithsonian Folkways Collection:

A number of us will be doing a Pete Seeger singalong June 8 at the San Francisco Free Folk Festival, https://sffolkfest.org/pete-seeger-program/. We did this program last year at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, and it was a great success. This time, we'll be joined by Emma's Revolution, which is pretty cool.

Pete Seeger and The Bush Music Club, 1963 plus earlier & later correspondence, including a link to the video.

The earliest contact was a 1957 letter, thanking BMC for a donation to his legal expenses relating to his appearance at the House Un-American Activities Committee, which has unfortunately not survived. The latest correspondence was for his 90th birthday.

There's a film on YouTube "To Hear My Banjo Play".
Also, our recording of Nonesuch is available through Smithsonian/Folkways.
My favorite recording of Pete's is "Darling Corey" though Smithsonian/Folkways.
I asked Pete about this recording. He was young then. I thought the banjo accompaniments
were brilliant. Pete said, "Yes and it was downhill from then on". I thought that was a funny answer.
