03 Dec 14 - 01:12 PM (#3682175) Subject: RE: New Sam Larner Release! From: Jim Carroll Been waiting a long time for this We discussed the material that had been recorded from Sam by Ewan and Peggy with Keith. some time before he died and provided him with a list of that which had never been issued We also suggested that he might be able to include some of the mass of actuality - maybe next time. 05 Dec 14 - 06:41 AM (#3682718) Subject: RE: New Sam Larner Release! From: GUEST,Fred McCormick I just used Vic's link and it worked fine. A word of caution. The present release appears to contain all the songs which went onto the old Folkways LP, Now is the Time for Fishing, which was re-released on CD by Topic and also by Musical Traditions. I wouldn't worry too much. The LP tracks will account for maybe 40 minutes out of the approximately two and a half hours which will be on the new release. So there'll still be plenty there to whet the appetite of the connoisseur. And it will be grand to have all the MacColl/Seeger recordings of Sam together in the one place. |
05 Dec 14 - 08:31 AM (#3682747) Subject: RE: New Sam Larner Release! From: Vic Smith My link was to a .pdf file - so unless you have Adobe Reader which you can get as a free download by clicking on the link, you won't be able to open it. I must say that using .pdf files to make his album booklets available on his website is a new departure for Rod as he has always loaded them as .htm files up until his last half a dozen releases |
