Obit: Phil Martin 2014

I've just found out via Around Kent Folk that hurdy gurdy player Philip G Martin died on 18th October 2014. He was once a familiar sight busking in either Canterbury, Folkestone or elsewhere in East Kent dressed authentically at any musician from le Centrale Massif. Known also under his pseudonym Drohne, Phil lived at Minster in Thanet and, am told, was active musically until fairly recently, performing at a concert at St Nicholas-at-Wade parish church. He has numerous recordings under his name.

I am so sorry to hear this news. If you put "Philip Martin Hurdy Gurdy" into your search engine of choice, there is a good selection to choose from. A wonderful player. I have added his name to the "In Memoriam" thread. My condolences to all who know and love him.

RIP

Peter

Sorry to hear this, we put him up at Lancaster one year for the gurdy festival and he was kind enough to give us one of his CDs. Well worth a listen.
