16 Dec 14 - 10:21 AM (#3686218) Subject: December Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess The December Monthly Shanty, Forebitter, Ballad, and Annual Seasonal Song Session will be happening this Saturday, December 20th at The Press Room in Portsmouth, NH from 3:30 to 7:30 PM -- and the PMAC kids had their thing last Saturday, so we should be unimpeded from having the full session this year. This annual sea and seasonal song session usually brings out a lot of material not sung the rest of the year. We'll definitely have to do Brian Chadburne's "Shopping Shanty" and, I'm sure, Charlie has a few seasonal songs about traditional Maine weather, etc. It's wide open for songs we only get a short opportunity to sing each year. See you there! Linn |

Just because you can't get to the shanty sings doesn't mean you're not a member of the group...and a very WELCOME one! Have a happy midwinter holiday season (despite bad memories) and all the best for the coming new year. Linn |

21 Dec 14 - 11:22 AM (#3687563) Subject: RE: December Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Not the largest session, but the pub was quiet so we could sing a few things more difficult in its usual din. And we had a few voices not usually in attendance...Maine storyteller Lynne Cullen, tavern wench Lynn Feingold, balladeer Debra Cowen, which made up for missing some of the usual suspects. Hope it wasn't Jeri's Friday migraine that kept her away. My knee was feeling better but I still had my cane which kept clattering to the floor. AND I got princess parking (unlike last night's ordeal.) More later. Linn |

22 Dec 14 - 11:33 PM (#3687971) Subject: RE: December Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: GUEST,Don Hale A delightful session, and they had Smuttynose Robust Porter on tap!!! #11: "Somerset Gloucestershire Wassail", from a 1960 Kingston Trio record, "The Last Month Of The Year" (as was "Go Where I Send Thee"). I do go back a while (as I said at the session, I'm a pre-war model). A Merry Merry and a Happy Happy to all! Don |
