BS: Inclusive Mosque

What a good idea!

Nice to see that at least some Christians are open enough to promote integration and stand by their decision even when under attack for it. Also interested to note that one of the dissenters describes the vicar in question of promoting a liberal agenda. As if that is a bad thing...

Calgary, Alberta, Canada has a mayor, voted one of the best mayors in the world, who is also a muslim. Fortunately, his religious belief is not an issue. Below is a likn to an interview on this:

It's more like an inclusive C o E, but inclusive mosques exist in the UK. If it keeps people off the streets and prevents them killing each other it's likely a good thing.

For a few hundred years the main mosque in Diyarbakir (formerly a church) was used by Muslims and Christians simultaneously. They intermingled and you could only tell which was which by the direction they faced when praying.

Hmm. Interesting. Although I suspect Muslims are more likely to find Christian beliefs & practices a stumbling-block than vice versa.

For the record, Christian churches generally are open to those of all faiths and of none, to attend services or other events, offer private prayer, or just find a bit of peace and quiet. The only restriction is on full participation in the Eucharist. And anybody, "heretic, Turk or Jew", can have a parish church wedding if they satisfy the legal requirements.

OTOH in the C of E, canon law allows only the officially permitted forms of worship. Mind you, Common Worship, unlike the Book of Common Prayer, gives vicars quite a lot of leeway to construct occasional services when necessary.

"What about gay Muslims?"

There are some tough rows to hoe. That's gotta be one of 'em.

So, musket, is that also the case even in so called gay churches ?. I not actually know.. But I do know that Christians who want to remain true to biblical teaching ought not to be compelled to do otherwise, even though you might think otherwise .

Sorry, I can't help it.
Are gay churches ones that only hang around with other churches of the same sects?

How do you tell a male chromosome from a female chromosome?

Pull down its genes.

I'm spending the weekend at a conference sponsored by the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Some 40,000 people are attending. Among our speakers, we have an imam, a rabbi, evangelical pastor Rick Warren, and a number of Lutheran and Episcopalian clergy. The Catholic Church has a long way to go on LGBT issues, but there is a session titled "Joy of the Gospel for Lesbian & Gay Catholics in the Time of Pope Francis."

Of course, there are protesters outside condemning discussions by the people inside.

But there's hope.

The mosques I saw in the Middle East seemed to be open to all men willing to take their shoes off. Some seemed to be open to women, but I couldn't figure out what restrictions were on women. I just knew my sister went into some mosques, but not others.

Sounds good Joe. Although a meeting of hyenas to discuss the merits of vegetarianism is never going to get much further than realising the fundamental stance of hyenas is to be carnivorous.

Bigotry is the cornerstone of organised religion. A meeting of nice people can only result in watering down said religion. Ultimately, asking why it is needed in the first place.
