16 Apr 15 - 03:24 PM (#3702285) Subject: Obit: Well, not yet but - Don Thompson From: Richard Bridge I am told that Don Thompson is seriously ill. Apparently he was taken into hospital last week with intestinal problems. It is said that he is not conscious at the moment and the hospital are considering a move to a Hospice. One must sympathise with his wife Winnie. |

16 Apr 15 - 03:34 PM (#3702287) Subject: RE: Obit: Well, not yet but - Don Thompson From: GUEST,Dave the Gnome Oh 'eck, as they say around here. Only met Don once, at Moira, but he is a nice bloke. Hope the rumours of his demise are exaggerated. |
16 Apr 15 - 04:04 PM (#3702293) Subject: RE: Obit: Well, not yet but - Don Thompson From: The Barden of England I refrained from putting too much detail on Facebook in deference to Winnie Thompson but, as Richard says, Don has been diagnosed as terminal. That was the news that Winnie broke earlier today, and that he was to be moved to a Hospice. So no obit yet, but it doesn't look good. John Barden |
16 Apr 15 - 04:24 PM (#3702297) Subject: RE: Obit: Well, not yet but - Don Thompson From: Richard Bridge I've spoken at some length to the Wild Rover (or Clever Evil) - new-ish catters may not remember the man behind the names - and John is still underplaying it. Bear in mind that Don was 74 and had been suffering from emphysema for a considerable time, probably as a result of his previous long-term history of smoking, which is a hint. Winnie is herself only recently out of hospital, but it looks very possible for family to take up the slack - and in addition to help with Winnie's mother who lives nearby. And who must be getting on for telegram from the Queen time. The thread title has been changed to reflect Mr. Thompson's grave illness. It can revert back at some time in the future. ---mudelf |

I hope a miracle happens, but if it doesn't, and anyone is speaking with him in person, please give him my warmest regards. Bruce Murdoch |
