I'd love to know the rest of the lyrics if anyone knows this song!
And any explanations about what the gypsy boys are in Canada.

Gypsy Boys

The times down here they're the hardest life
It takes them a ______________
And the promises made by the men in grey, they seem to be delivered
Deaken and me we were marking time in the ranks of the unemployed
When they hired us on for a week or so,to work with the gypsy boys

well the factory closed down yesterday, the textiles turned to ---
Say what you will, but down this way, one goes the other follows
So it's up your rigors, up your rigors go
Haul your chains around the doors
Cos they hired us on for a week or so, to work with the gypsy boys

Well the lights come up and the crowd goes home
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
And we're paid our wages and the loadin's ore
We're gone to another town
And from Pennysylvania in the great north west
From Champagne, Illinois,
Well they've hired us on for a week or so, to work with the gypsy boys,oh

For they're calling the towns, tipping ore ashore
All lights and fire and noise
And they've hired us on for a week or so, to work with the gypsy boys

The song content seems to be: The singer and his friend Deaken were paid off and out of work, so they went on the road as stage riggers (roadies) for a band called the Gypsy Boys.

This is my attempt at the lyrics and chords:
Gypsy Boys

Thanks Frank. An interesting song. The chords are welcome, too.

GYPSY BOYS
(David Francey)

Times down here they was hard as life
Ice on the frozen river
And the promises made by the men in grey
Never seem to be delivered

Beaton and me, we were marking time
In the ranks of the unemployed
When they hired us on for a week or so
To work with the Gypsy Boys, oh

Well, the factory closed down yesterday
It's the textiles' turn tomorrow
Say what you will, but down this way
When one goes, the other follows

So it's up you riggers, up you riggers go
Haul your chains around the joists
'Cause they hired us on for a week or so
To work with the Gypsy Boys

Well, the lights come up and the crowd goes home
And we're tearing the stage-hand down
And we're paid our wages in the loading's zone
and they're gone to another town

And from Pennsylvania in the great North West
From Champagne, Illinois
Well, they've hired us on for a week or so
To work with the Gypsy Boys, oh

Well they pull into town to put on a show
All ice, fire and noise
And they've hired us on for a week or so
To work with the Gypsy Boys, oh

Lyrics taken from Frank's link above. I couldn't hear well enough to do my own transcription.
