Which would you prefer to scrub out of the carpet, vomit or feces? Sexism is directed against half, or a scosh more than half, of the population. Racism (within a nation)is generally directed against minorities. Both degrade the lives of many more people than those they are directed against. Sexism is much less likely to be literally murderous. |

Where I live, it seems rare that the local media is not following a local case of a woman having been murdered by a man: woman missing, body found, suspect sought, man arrested, woman missing, body found .... etc. Cases of a member of a racial minority having been murdered by a white person do seem rare, though (no, I'm not going to look up the statistics). |

Blacks get stopped by cops for Driving While Black. Women don't usually get stopped for Driving While Female. Sexism is more prevalent in the workplace. Outside of a handful of dyed-in-the-wool bigots, most employers wouldn't even consider paying a black man less than a white man for doing the same work. But many routinely pay women much less than men. |

I suspect that sexism is more prevalent, but that on a death-per-bigot basis racism is more deadly. But as a result of the prevalence of sexism I would not be surprised if more women in total died (including as a result of so-called "honour killings") as a result of sexism than non-whites as a result of racism. Surely the cliche "If I can't have you nobody will" would not have become a cliche unless a commonplace. |

Simply because more women are kidnapped, raped, assaulted, and often murdered by boyfriends or estranged husbands and the news media barely bats an eye. Second class citizens. This is layered over a complex intersection, where low income and minority women are invisible. If murder involves a well-to-do woman, or a woman with a family who are listened to when they speak out, then you hear about it. |

From: akenaton I seem to remember the phrase "The only good injun....." from the old cowboy films of my youth, the media was indoctrinating us even then. Of course the "Indians" were shown using barbaric cruelty, murder and rape of white women, the killing of children and the scalping of victims.....which at the time demonised the race. I am sure these barbarities did happen, but we as children were quite unaware of the political and social implications of white colonisation. |
