Hi there

Can anyone direct me to a list of all of the recordings available for any/all of the above artists.

I have several but I just want to see if I am missing anything that is still on sale.

Thanks very much

K/van

Start here, Kampervan.
Chanteycabin- John Conolly

I've sent an email to John Conolly in case he'd like to reply.

Hi maeve, thanks for that. I tried to find John's website but couldn't. The link you've given me is a great start, there are a couple there that I haven't got yet.

No mention of Broadside though, maybe there are no recordings available, but I'm sure that John will let me know if there are.

Cheers
K/van

Will this help you with the Broadside recordings?

I'm sorry, I haven't time to look more carefully. I have several cords of firewood to haul!

If it is still available there is an excellent double CD 'By The Humber's Brown Waters'

It's an excellent CD, I have it.

Kampervan, not sure where you're located, but you might be interested in The Concert for Brian Dawson at Sleaford Playhouse on 16/10/15. Brian was, of course, a colleague of John and Bill in 'The Broadside', and was a highly respected, even revered, Lincolnshire musician and singer. Proud to have known this fine, knowledgeable, gentle man.

I think the original poster asked for the group Broadside, not the Broadside Records label. See http://www.discogs.com/artist/3238434-The-Broadside and http://www.discogs.com/artist/3077813-The-Broadside-From-Grimsby.

Thank you everyone. Yes it was Broadside - the group - pure nostalgia from my early years listening to them at the Grimsby Folk Club.

The Humber's Brown Waters' I have, and I agree, it is excellent.

And thanks for the link to those Broadside recordings. I haven't got the ability play vinyl, but it's good to know about the recordings and perhaps one day they will be available to buy as uploads or CDs.

I'm now living down in Kent so I'm not sure about getting up to Sleaford for the concert, but I wish the organisers well, Brian Dawson was a great musician; I didn't know him personally, but I did see him perform on many occasions and he always came across as a nice guy.

Great to see Mudcat doing what it's good at!

Thanks again

K/van

Hi EBarnacle, I'm in the UK, but happy to pay for postage from the US for anything that I can't get over here.

Have you got a web address for camsco?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Slight thread drift, but John did several concerts at last week's Whitby Folk Festival: I was at 2 of them and they were excellent. He had 4 or 5 CDs on sale, including the double one, which I have.

Hi Kampervan! Glad to hear of your interest - but there are no Broadside recordings available on CD, except for the ones included on the double-CD set "By Humber's Brown Water",which you already have.
You can contact me via "The Chantey Cabin" - the list of my recordings in their catalogue is almost complete - the only other one currently available is "The Northern Trawl" (songs by John Conolly and Bill Meek, from the play by Remould Theatre Company)
I think Chantey Cabin are currently sold out of most of their stock of my CDs, but you can get them direct from me. All the best - John.

Hey John,
Glad the sales are going so well....you'll soon be able to buy another set of guitar strings and get a new case for your squeezebox!
Saw that you were in Whitby again this year...I've happy memories of us running the 'folk club night'....maybe it was 1998 just before I headed west...think that was the week Bill and Dave became an overnight success..... :-)
Keep on keeping on!
Cheers

Hi John,
Thank you very much for getting back to me. I think that I am short of at least one of those CDs so I'll check with The Chantey Cabin and if they are out of stock then I'll get back to you personally.

If anyone had the inclination, assuming that there are some tape recordings out there, then it would be great if someone could put together a retrospective compilation CD of some of those early performers from Grimsby folk club - Silver Birch, Galley, Broadside etc.Don't know how the economics wold pan out tho!

Regards

Paul

There was an Lp of the floor singers put out, in the mid seventies I think. "Eastern Approaches"

Ouch! Fortunately I have a copy in storage, just didn't have it to hand. Also have "To drive dark away" which is my favourite of their Lp's even though it isn't the one with their greatest hits on :)
