Well... earlier you have Grandpa Jones. 1930's Later,,, you have the "Randy Shaw Band" (moonshine medly with Rockytop) However, I believe you are seeking "Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen" 1968-73 Stanley Brothers. 1946-1966 Or...."The Smokey River Boys" uwwwww, uwwwww, I know...."Doc Watson" Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash Sincerely, Gargoyle Surely, you do not want silly Willie Nelson? |

Willie's closer to Southern Rock than any of those except Commander Cody, and even their version isn't particularly rocky. Having never heard of Randy Shaw, I looked them up, and they aren't much of a rock band either, and even further from the 70s. As for the rest of them, all the other bands are straight up country or bluegrass. |

No country/Southern rock band recordings, but lots of fun recordings nonetheless. Here's the recording by Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen. Can't say I like it. They sound drunk, or stoned. -Joe- |
