I just got off the phone with my best friend here in town. One of her son's soccer/skateboarding pals went to Spain....and discovered the most wonderful MUSIC and FOLK and INSTRUMENT and PERFORMANCE and CURRICULUM and so many other musical things that cannot be noted....and I don't know all the details right now.

However, if you click HERE Hispanic Music - Themes you will discover some interesting MUSICAL Links that even lead to cultural and instrumental insights.

Truncate the link to http://www.hispanicmusic.com/ --- and you have a fascinating Homepage for Folk Music Resource.

Enjoy
HAVE FUN!!!!

That's a good link, actually. What a great way to become bilingue, by learning the language and culture through music.

when I lived in Albuquerque for five years, the way I learned the amount of Spanish (measly) I do know came from going to see bilingual productions by La Compania de Teatro there, and by listening to music. I think it works so well because music accesses a different side of your brain and cuts through some of the "logic" that barricades your brain.

Aw, Gargoyle, you can do better than that. I was hoping you'd link us to a site that was a classic of Total Stupidity. This one is merely devoid of intelligence, a phenomenon that has become all too common recently.

Well, I positively feel that Gawd or Gawdess, or whoever the phoake is in charge, will certainly radiate the cyber-rays of Fahrvergnügen upon that blessed family as they travel through Spain, or Pain, or wherever that was....

Have to say I'm pretty sceptical of the site's claims. Also I'm interested that their idea of "Hispanic music and culture" seems to exclude the rich diversity of musical traditions within Spain itself.
