Need Your Help - Calla's Waltz Project

I am a looong time, old time Mudcatter. Recently I post more on the Mudcat FaceBook page than I do here - but I'm a pretty regular reader of and researcher at this site.

I need your help. I hate to ask because I know we all have plenty of productive and worthwhile ways of spending, so please know that I only ask for your contribution if it fits your budget and your best wishes - but if you can offer assistance with this fund raiser, your gift would be most important step toward making this project possible.

The link below tells the full story - but essentially what this is about is a fund raiser for a recording project. I've been approached by a former industry professional who believes strongly that I ought to try to push a couple of my folk-style songs into the next level because he believes they would be very successful - and I am following his advice to create professional recordings of those songs (plus a few more) and work him to get them placed. The funding page below has more detail - but that is the story in a nutshell.

I begin working the project in Jan with a recording session in New York with Jay Ungar and Molly Mason - and with my good friend and fellow Mudcatter, Paul Mills. We plan to record the project's title track, Calla's Waltz at that session. I will be working with other music friends on the project, as it progresses.

I'm afraid I have nothing to offer in return for your contribution. I will provide you access to digital downloads of the new recordings, however - when they are complete and you will have my heartfelt thanks! If you are contributing it is simply because you wish to help me create beautiful recordings of these songs - and you know I need your help to make that happen.

If you've worked in the world of professional studio recording at all, you know the gear and skilled technicians are very costly - as is travel, (getting all the right players in one place at one time), as is manufacturing and so on and so on. As a full-time folk musician, I just don't earn at that level to fund this on my own. So I am asking for your help. Again - only if it fits within your budget and within your best wishes ... and if it does, you can donate any amount through box labled "Your Contribution" on the funding page - or by selecting one of the "select a perk" options. Donations are calculated in US Dollars.

Please take a look at the page below. Whether you can donate or not, I'd like the whole world to know that the project is in the works. I especially want Mudcatters to know because Mudcat is where my folk music "career" began with a giant push from Rick Fielding - so even if you cannot or choose not to help, I hope you'll find the whole story interesting.

I'll answer any questions or comments here or in PMs. Thanks for reading this far - and thanks for your consideration!

PS: This is a link to an earlier recording of the new project's songs at Youtube. The song is called Even As I Ramble and the video is from a documentary film that used it last year.

I am willing to contribute, (I suppose by PayPal) but I don't want to submit my e-mail address. How do I do that?

leenia - I don't believe there is a way to contribute without giving your email address. Sorry.

One possibility is to have an email address used only for such things. Depending on your email provider there may also be a way to use an anonymous email address supplied by that provider. It's a common and legitimate option for similar activity.
