Happy Birthday to Joan Baez, January 09, 2016.
75 years old today.

I have been listening to her music for a long, long time and have just about every album ever released. She has always been my favorite folk singer of all time.

Wishing you many more birthdays!

Love, Lin

Hope you had a great day, Joan. Love you for your wisdom, courage, and humour. Not to mention that gorgeous voice.

FYI - the 75th birthday special 2-CD/DVD set available from
the usual purveyors - link her to Amazon:

Impressive line-up of performers, including Jackson Browne, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Judy Collins, David Crosby, Indigo Girls, Emmylou Harris, Damien Rice, Paul Simon, Mavis Staples, Nano Stern and Richard Thompson.

One of my favorite Joan Baez albums is the one she had suppressed:
Joan Baez in San Francisco (Fantasy, also reissued by Bear Family)
These were her first recordings, released only after she became
a phenomenon and the Veritas and Vanguard first releases.
What delights me about it is the repertoire reflects the pop music
of our generation - early rock&roll, calypso, etc. I remember a night at a "folk" venue in Houston in the late 1960's after the
shows ended, a bunch of the performers sat around and sang many
of these same songs.

Happy Birthday Joan!

Thomas.
