BS: Yay!

Today was a good day for a number of reasons already and I just found another :-)

No it wasn't. You're fooling yourself. There is no human happiness on this Earth.

Yay!
Dave the Gnome, who admits to having no knowledge of the history of WW1, has succeeded in closing a thread on that subject by resorting to baseless, adhominem, personal attacks.
Yay!

That is just trolling, Keith.

Dave, how can you talk like this when Liverpool have lost to M*anch*ester Un*it*ed?

Didn't know about that one, Steve. Sorry :-( Too busy celebrating something with family.

Paul. I know what you mean but, as you well know, while Gnomes and Humans are vaguely related, we are not subject to the same rules :-)

Keith. I am just ignoring that. Not everything is to do with WW1 and even less is to do with you!

Who is this Keith A of HUrtford? And why does he refer to another thread, that being closed so none can gain any understanding? And why does he refer... you get it. Geeze... get a life Keefer.

Hi, Dave. What the happy family event that capped off your day?

In church today I heard something interesting. A young member told us that her grandfather has pancreatic cancer (something I've understood to be a death sentence in short order), but the doctors has determined that the tumor is "encased in calcium," and seems to be neutralized. I had never heard of anything like that.

Bad news is that our football team lost to the despised New England Patriots yesterday. A teenager offered a prayer that the blind referees get help from God to see better.

I am an entertainer,
and I sing for charity.
For Oxfam and for Shelter,
for those worse off than me.
Bangladesh, Barnardos Homes,
and though I don't get paid,
It does one good to do some work
for things like Christan aid.

But of all the concerts that I've done
for the homeless overseas,
The one I did that pleased me most
was not for refugees.
Was for a home in Ireland
that stands amongst the trees -
The Sunshine Home in Dublin
for blind Irish referees!

I get it.

Every day I awake a day older. Yet so long as I can say "What's the story, morning glory?" Life is still good.

Mind you, stuffing Leeds and moving into the playoff positions made for a good weekend. Ditto having put my winter wheels on before the gun and games started. Oh, and an eight mile walk yesterday, interrupted only by half a dozen pints and a carvery Sunday dinner.

Look on the bright side. Before the day is out, there'll be another WW1 thread to enjoy, the bacon I am about to have will taste wonderful and tonight is one of my favourite monthly folk clubs. Oh, and off skiing for two weeks at the end of the week.

A message for our other co Messiah. You know when you've been Roonied."

What happened to the rest of the thread? Muskets above post was repeated twice and there were at least 3 comments about that.

Tonight, I got the guy who owns the sushi place in town, to come out to the house and bring free fresh sushi with him, and while I played for him in the studio, my sweetheart got to have sushi I brought to her in bed! pretty cool!

Yesterday was good. I got all of my tax-related input for the lawfirm in which I used to be a partner finished, and succeeded in logging on first time to the HMRC website - and I still have 12 days to get my tax return in. The log-burner is blazing, my axe sang sweetly as I split the logs, 4 out of 5 Volvos are running well with only trivial things to fix and I have found a cheap delivery service to get two gigantic disco subwoofers from Bristol to Croydon.

Definitely 2 good yays there :-)

Not sure what the comments were now they are gone but I suspect they were witty and erudite if they were from me or pretty dull if they were from anyone else... :-P

Yesterday not so good - raging toothache, dog with Delhi Belly, missed the monthly club that is one of my and Musket's favourites because of aforementioned raging toothache.

Today starting not-so-well.....Vet's bill for Doggy-Delhi-Belly, visit to dentist later for what I expect to be the removal of a crown, the start of a root-canal treatment and, eventually, a new (f***ing expensive!) crown.

But I keep waking up every morning, every day is a brand new day and, at my time of life, a welcome bonus!

Gotta stay positive when the shit's piling up at the door...

Just to pile it on, you missed a cracking night BWM. Two Uncle George Specials playing together in harmony! Each month gets better and for that matter more crowded. I took a gamble, tuning down that baritone jobby to modal A. The bottom string was threatening to wobble but there again, could have been the beer.

My yay of the moment is knowing another 24 hours have elapsed towards this weekend and spending two weeks skiing. As my back / knees / beer belly / general idleness mean I can't ski every day, I bought a travel guitar and intend to sit by a log fire in the chalet writing songs on some days. (Or in reality, intend to but I know too many people who go to the same bar at lunchtime...)

Hi

My Yay was that Man U beat deadly rivals L'pool.

But it must be accompanied with an Ugggg - I watched a crap game played between two sides that look as though they would struggle in League 1.

Still a win is a win......... Yay.

Cheers

Mike

Chiffchaff on my window box this morning. They're supposed to be somewhere in Africa, but more and more are staying the winter.

Other than Rooney's goal, no bugger looked like touching anything or anyone.

Can't wait to get promoted this season. The Premier League looks an overpriced doddle.

(Says Leicester, Stoke, Bournemouth.)

Another yay. My mate has agreed to pick me up tonight allowing me to be drunk in charge of a guitar. So much for Dry January.

Today, conversely, is a day on which I do not want to face the world, rather to pull the duvet over my head and hide. Shame, really, I wanted to go to folk club but don't want to meet people. Particularly some who might be there.

Believe or not I am having a dry January. Not a drop since the 2nd and every intention of keeping it up until my birthday on 5th of Feb! Part of the celebrations on Saturday were a meal out at a lovely local Thai restaurant and driving there and back with only mineral water to drink was part of the 'Yay' factor. Maybe I am better off keeping off the booze...

Nah. Roll on February :-)

We were recently in Wales at an hotel when man came down to breakfast.

I was just a bit worried at all the folk in their late 60s popping off recently!

Well done for reaching 80 MikeL2. A friend who is older than that always replies to "See you soon" with "If I'm spared"!
