John Roberts's New Hip 2016

Subject: John Roberts's New Hip
From: DebC

I already posted in the Facebook Group and thought I'd also post here:
As many of you probably know, John Roberts (Anglo here on the 'Cat) has been having some hip trouble. This has really cramped his style a bit and he has had to cancel a lot of work in 2015 and 2016. If you purchase our CD "Ballads Long & Short" from MY WEBSITE, $10 from every CD SOLD goes to John. So if you buy 5 copies of the CD (they do make great gifts!) that's $50 to John to help him out. Click on the link above. If you don't want to use the methods on my website ring me up or send an email and we'll do it that way. I know a number of 'Catters have come through so far, but my goal is 100 CDs which translates to $1000. Even if a purchase isn't in the cards for you, it would help to let your friends know. Please share the posts on Debra Cowan Music, email your friends and family and let folks know. Thanks so much! Get your copies now and let's help an old friend out.

Sounds like the first line of a chorus.

Someone, anyone, able to produce a verse?

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

otherwise....otherwise....it is certainly "below the line."

Nope, it's about music cd sales and a treasured musician who has recorded and sung and played many more great songs and tunes than most of us will learn in a lifetime.

Get well very soon, John. You and Deb have been good friends to me, and I mean to meet up at a concert or a folk club gig, either here in Wales or there in Upstate New York. Both of you have been truly amazing.

Moving this up top again. Thanks to everyone who has helped so far. I just got a donation of $100 to help and that is very welcome. Maybe I should put a CD into the auction?

Making progress then? Good.

Anyone who has felt the loss of a musician who mattered to you, to whom perhaps you hadn't gotten a chance to thank- this is someone very special who is still very much with us and making beautiful, funny, thoughtful songs and tunes. Now is the time to show appreciation.

Please help.

Thank you,
Maeve

We seem to be stuck at the $500 mark. I'd love to be able to send John a check for $1000. Huge thanks to Chanteylass, Maeve and Doryman for helping to spread the word. thanks to all the other 'Catters who have helped as well by opening your wallets.

The thread hasn't been up for long (3 days), so don't despair. Give it a few more days to catch eyes of friends and fans. I'm sure others will want to be part of such a worthy effort.

Many many years ago, "Spencer The Rover Is Alive and Well and Living in Ithaca New York" fumigated my alcoholic roommate. I will order a CD. I owe him one.

Hooray! I am still short of my goal of $1000. I have had a couple of very generous donations as well all of which will go to John. If you are on Facebook, you can see his updates on his profile. Long-short: he is due for his second surgery on March 15 which is great news. It also looks like everything is going well. I think he can post to Mudcat so I'll let him tell you what is up.

Thanks to all who have helped out so far and I would love to see all my copies of "Ballads Long & Short" reduced in number. Use the link at the top of the posts ton purchase.

Concertina isn't that physically demanding. I heard it was cricket, too.

My CD is on its way. Looking forward to it!

I do thank you all for responding to Deb's appeal. We like the CD, and hope you will too.

I go in for what we all hope will be the final surgery on March 15, then I can look forward to a busy recuperation with lots of PT and exercise of my languishing muscles.

Deb and I have two concerts booked in May, the 13th and 14th at Old Songs, Voorheesville NY, and Rochester NY respectively. If things go well, this is when I'm planning to return to performing. We hope to see some of you there.

Thank you all for your support.

John

My CD came in the mail today! OTOH, one thing I ordered from Amazon is expected to ship on Mar 30. It's way cheaper than anywhere else, but I figure that has to do with the fact that they don't have to pay the snails much to pull the little wagon. I figure I'll wear the CD out before my Amazon order gets here.

Hahaha, Jeri! I still support the USPS 100%. Thanks to all who have purchased CDs and to those who sent donations. We have at least $1200 that will be going to John.

You are well-loved, my friend.

Since Jacqui mentioned this thread in the House Concert thread I thought I'd bring it back into view. We've raised over $1500 for John so far! I sold 58 CDs and there were also quite a few donations. Thanks to all!

If you are within striking distance of Marblehead, MA, So. Portland, ME or Woods Hole, MA this weekend I do hope you'll come out to one (or all!) of the shows. More information HERE
