Anyone have wisdom about what kind of single mic we need for the old time gather-round-the-mic set up? I'm thinking we need a cardidoid condensor (non-multi-pattern)...does that sound right? These are the top three I was thinking about since I don;t have unlimited funds: Shure KSM32 http://www.shure.com/americas/products/microphones/ksm/ksm32-embossed-single-diaphragm-microphone Audio Techica AT 2035 http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/wired_mics/cebb57a269d232ee/index.html Audio Technica 4047 http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/wired_mics/15834b4b627e755b/index.html Any thoughts?? The Audix SCX-25A: SCX25A When working with a mic like that, you'll also need a good EQ between your mixer and your amplifier. I'd recommend this DBX unit: AFS-2 (I'm using it's predecessor, the AFS-224) Working without this and/or trying to use monitor speakers will ruin your sound. For over 9 years now I've been using 2 or sometimes even 3 SCX-25As on stage and we couldn't be happier: HiFi sound quality and freedom to move. Two birds, one stone. Soundchecks usually last 2 minutes. |
