BS: Today's Times political cartoon

... by Peter Brookes, under a strapline reading "By your friends shall you be known...", shows Boris Johnson as a sheepdog embracing Nigel Farage's leg, while a trilby-hatted grey bearded man holding a cigar & a glass of whisky sez "Me next, Bozza".

I shame to appear so out-of-touch with current affairs; but who is this guy meant to be?

Help welcome, please, for the helpless

Could it be gorgeous George, who recently shared a platform with Nigel?

Ah, thank you. It does appear to be the egregious Galloway, judging by his wikipedia picture. Not sure what the point being made is, tho! Has Galloway been trying to recruit B Johnson to something-or-other, then, or what? & what particular form of obsequiousness has Johnson been offering Farage?

I am not a lover of Brookes's work, as it happens. He draws like an angel, but I find his point often [as here] somewhat obscure. & he loves to fill his drawings with far too much shit -- I mean literally: he draws excrement at any & every opportunity. I have complained several times to their Reader Feedback service about this, & have been told by them on enquiring that I am far from the only such objector. I just wish I didn't find the Times's one the most satisfactory daily crossword, & their letters page generally the most engaging. & old habits die hard. I have been a Times reader since those far-off days, way back in antiquity, when it was a paper for a gentleman to read! back before that bloody Oz got hold of it and handed it over to Charlie Gorbals to ruin.

Eheu!

Anyone who tells me that he's a regular consumer of Murdoch trash is diminished in my eyes. Do try to discriminate, man.

Yes, excellent.

I suppose, Guesticles, that were I to criticise David Cameron in any way at all, for overseeing the destruction of the NHS shall we say, you'd accuse me of anti-Etonianism. In other words, try not to be so silly.

Hi Michael, I know Charie Gorbals, used to drink with him when he was with that ravishing redhead......forget her name for the moment :0(
Anyway the crack was extremely good on Lochfyneside. :0)

Interesting. I am sure he drinks well, & services his strawberry blonde with utmost efficiency*.   But I still didn't care greatly for The Times under his stewardship, I fear!

*Was she not called Sally O'Sullivan or some such? Tho he was married for a while to the egregious Ann Robinson iirc!
{I expect you will know, btw, that there is a chain of oyster bars called Loch Fyne. The one near us in Cambridge has known better days imo!}

Yes, Michael. I agree with you about Loch Fyne. Calling them "oyster bars" is a bit of a stretch. Last time I went to one the best thing I had was a big bowl of deep-fried whitebait.

I suspect it has to do with the referendum on leaving the EU.
