03 Apr 16 - 03:35 PM (#3783129) Subject: RE: Dick Miles UK March 29 & 31 From: The Sandman The Ashford Road Social Club In my opinion is quite a good venue [and i see quite a lot of different folk clubs,it is in a seperate upstairs venue, there is a downstairs bar selling real ale at cheap prices, so there is no noise from the bar in the folk room, there was a little bit of very occasional noise from downstairs, but nothing that was off putting to me as a performer. I think it is one of the better venues[ along with the Prince of Wales, In union street] that SWINDON FOLK CLUB has been in, and i have been a regular booked performer since 1979. Ted and Ivy Poole have been involved in organising the club for over fifty years., and they are smashing people, I recommend this club to anyone and can guarantee that any strangers will get a warm welcome and be made to feel at home.
