had a wee Beltane bonfire and candles / lanterns in the garden last night- --
was wondering why neighbouring Episcopal church had lights on past the midnight hour, is there a Christian festival that coincides? (I'll ask them and let you know!)

hen I was a student in Embry a very long time ago, we used to sneak out of our restrictive college residences a little before dawn, head to Arthur's Seat to bathe our faces in the dew - - and have to avoid getting caught by a photographer, our photos in the daily paper for fear we'd be fun' oot!!

Cracking concert at the Moor & Coast Session in Whitby tonight.

First act on was Jess Morgan who was very good, next up was George Welch & Christine Jeans again very, very good and the night was topped out by John Tams & Barry Coope.

It doesn't get much better than tonight.

Hoss! Hoss!

My wife is building a bonfire for Beltane, and she says we have to jump over it once it gets burning. I grumped that I was too old for that.

Robert Rodriquez flew from New York to attend the festival in Padstow today. I'm hoping he brings back some good songs.

And I told somebody at Mass this morning that today was International Socialist Labor Day, and he called me a communist....

I went to a song circle this afternoon and I sang "Circle of the Sun." It's a modern song by Sally Rogers, but I thought it appropriate for Beltane. Any other suggestions for good songs for the season?

Hoss! Hoss!

I went up on to Alderley Edge for sunrise, it was really quite special.
Then I went home and got back into bed.

New Moon Morris were at the Rochester Sweeps' Festival, and after what was not the warmest April on record, the weather was (for the most part) beaut. Unfortunately illness and logistics meant we couldn't assemble a side for sun-up on Bluebell Hill so we had a lie-in instead.

Lou Judson, this section is in fact lyrics and knowledge (not actually 'music') and the bit down below is 'general discussion' i.e. everything else in the universe. I believe something changed recently and some people- is it guests? - cannot now see/participate in the 'general' bit?
I am sure someone who knows better than I will keep you right!

Threatened to rain here but didn't. Just put the sprinkler on. Got lots of veg coming on in the raised beds.

Had a great weekend at Wath Folk Festival though.

Bet it wasn't as good as Upton Upon Severn festival though ;) More morris teams than you could shake a stick at (so to speak).

Hal-an-tow has been running through my mind all week. After a winter of rain (and some snow) here in the Sierra foothills of California, we now have temperatures near 90 degrees. More and more flowers are coming out every day, and it's lovely. It has cooled off a bit, so the flowers should stay for a while. We're having a nature hike May 13, combined with a potluck dinner and a singaround. It should be wonderful.
One year, we had the hike/potluck/singaround on May 15, and it snowed the next day. There's something wonderful about that, too.
Hope May is as good as it should be for all of you.
