22 May 16 - 09:50 PM (#3791623) Subject: CM (Celtic Music, label) releases From: Tony Rees Hi Fellow Catters, I am attempting to complete a listing of all known releases on Dave Bulmer (yes, *that* Dave Bulmer)'s "Celtic Music" label from 1978 onwards. Current state of play is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_Music_(record_label). At present I am missing info for the following catalogue numbers: 032, 037, 039-040, 044, 049, 051-053, 059, 061, 063, 065, 068, 071-076, 082-088. Any additional info on these numbers (if used) would be welcome if available. Regards - Tony |

24 May 16 - 06:15 AM (#3791817) Subject: RE: CM (Celtic Music, label) releases From: MoorleyMan Tony - Your link currently throws up this message: "Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name. Please search for Celtic Music (record label) in Wikipedia to check for alternative titles or spellings." No joy there either... |

24 May 16 - 08:36 AM (#3791840) Subject: RE: CM (Celtic Music, label) releases From: MoorleyMan Ha! The search has now thrown up this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_Music_(record_label) - which is identical to the one given above, and works properly when accessed from the error page! O the mysteries of cyberspace... |
24 May 16 - 08:22 PM (#3792001) Subject: RE: CM (Celtic Music, label) releases From: Tony Rees OK, not sure about the access probs, it has been working for me... Meanwhile I found details for CM 039 - it seems to be a (apparently re-release of) Various Artists: The 2nd Irish Folk Festival on Tour (?2xLP, also on 2xCD) 1988, originally on Intercord (German label), 1975. |
24 May 16 - 09:14 PM (#3792012) Subject: RE: CM (Celtic Music, label) releases From: Ross Campbell I just came across this ad for Nic Jones's first album on CD on Amazon UK. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nic-Jones/dp/B0006FQ5X0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1464102267&sr=8-4&keywords=nic+jones Although a line in the ad suggests that the available stock (8 CDs) is located in Japan, the seller is listed as music_by_mail_uk, who turn out to be "INSIDEOUT SUPPLIES LTD" at a Harrogate address identical to that of several of Dave Bulmer's former trading operations. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aag/main?ie=UTF8&asin=&isAmazonFulfilled=&isCBA=&marketplaceID=A1F83G8C2ARO7P&orderID=&protocol=curr The first reviewer in the Amazon listing warns off potential purchasers, citing some of the history of Celtic Music, but others appear to have been happy with their purchases. Your Wikipedia listing (which works fine for me) is a valuable contribution to discography, and shows that, whatever else he failed to do, Dave Bulmer did not just spend his time sitting on his assets, but managed to produce a valuable body of work, from CD re-issues of classic albums like Archie Fisher's first LP, to original recordings such as Phil & June Colclough's "Players from a Drama" (which I recommend very highly). His reproductions of O'Neill's tune books were heartily welcomed when they appeared, making these legendary collections readily available. I also thought he was responsible for "Clan Alba", a double album from Dick Gaughan's supergroup, but that is listed in Discogs as CLANCD001, from Clan Alba Productions. Good luck with the project. Hope you manage to fill the gaps. Ross |
25 May 16 - 01:56 AM (#3792026) Subject: RE: CM (Celtic Music, label) releases From: Tony Rees Information available on the net suggests that "Clan Alba" was handled by CM Distribution for release and marketing only. I also understand that CM did 2? albums ('Nee Gud Luck' and 'Timeless Street'), also a compilation album ''The First Few Drops' for the Whisky Priests but the group wanted the releases on its own label (WP) so they do not figure here. - Tony |
27 Jul 17 - 09:53 AM (#3868607) Subject: RE: CM (Celtic Music, label) releases From: GUEST,Alistair He also did a number of singles which are visible at 45cat.com |
28 Jul 17 - 05:06 PM (#3868890) Subject: RE: CM (Celtic Music, label) releases From: Tony Rees Thanks, Alistair - duly noted and added to the wiki page. I was not aware of most of these! I have also found a separate listing of CM artists at http://www.musicstack.com/label/celtic+music so will go through this in case it fills any of the current gaps in my listing (though a slightly fiddly task since that list is not easy to browse...) Cheers - Tony |
