August Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing

Subject: August Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing

The August Third Saturday of the Month Press Room Shanty, Forebitter, and Foc's'l Ballad Singaround will be happening THIS SATURDAY, August 20th from 3:30 to 7:30 PM, downstairs at 77 Daniel Street, Portsmouth, NH, USA.

It's summer...some regulars are off doing summer things...festivals, vacations, outdoor gigs...but new people arrive and the stalwarts wart their stals -- usually loudly and with a lot of humor. We ALWAYS have a great time whether it's mere dozen of us or the place is packed (which is more likely in the cooler months).

Come help us raise the rafters (which seem to need raising at least once a month) with song. See you there!

Linn

Nick Noble, host of "The Folk Revival" on WICN, Worcester, MA public radio, and singer of faux maritime songs is planning on joining us. He'll also be at the Friday Press Room trad session.

I do expect to be there (after I inspect Pete & Laurette's carpentry handywork in rebuilding their front steps).

Linn, it's still in progress, and it's unknown how much Dave H. might have consumed!

I was planning on it, but I woke up with blown-up sinuses which have turned into swollen sinuses plus a headache. Not worth moving more than I have to.

We had an energetic, lively, raucous, and bawdy session yesterday, but today I have a rather full plate and it's almost entirely away from home. (All good -- catching up with a friend and later friends and live music.)

So...I won't be able to post the crew and the songs until tomorrow.

Until then...

Hope I'll have some time in between all my running around today to at least get a start on posting Saturday's song list.

If I go to RiRa tonight for a bit, it will be live music for five out of six evenings...

Wow! What a set of sons!!

Number 11 title should be "The Fatal Glass of Beer."

Number 39 is "The Chanteyman," not to be confused with "The Shantyman" also based on a poem by Cicely Fox Smith. :-)

Re: "The Fatal Glass of Beer" -- that's what I thought... But I asked YOU right after you sang it and "The Country Lad" is what you told me... ;-)

Thanks, Charley, for answering my questions!
