At this feast and music Festival we eat food made like was done in the past , and the smell is not always as it´s best like the shark and sour whale meat , along with dry fish , lamp meat and of course the Black Death ( BRENNIVÍN ) witch some of you who visit the Portaferry Gathering know about , we always put the brennivín in the freezer for over night , that bring ´s the better taste out and the music is Icelandic folk song , from now and from the past , Fimmundar songs like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmdPUobgmaE and many more , here is list ,, Krummi krunkar úti Krummi svaf í klettagjá þorraþræll and many more , at some places they only sing Rímur and Stemmur witch are the oldest Icelandic folk music that we know of that we can still use , there have been found some older music form´s I have here at home but I have no knowledge of any cd of that music so far . so Gleðilegan Þorramánuð , all the best Skarpi ICeland . |

Listening to your Youtube link, and following the recommends to other Icelandic folk music, there is some really, really good stuff out there. Both instrumental and choral. Is this music very old? To my ear it sounds medieval. |

When I was in Reykjavik recently, we went to the show called "How to Beocme Icelandic in 60 Minutes. " We were impressed by the two creepy ghost songs we heard there. |

My husband and I liked it very much, and we are still playing it nowadays.
