Aidan Moffat v Sheila Stewart BBC2 Frid

"Where You're Meant To Be" is a documentary on BBC2 this Friday which deals with Aidan Moffat (ex indie group Arab Strap) touring small venues in Scotland playing his folk inspired album of the same name - which is mostly bawdy rewrites of tunes with some lyrics which would quite honestly make Billy Connolly blush.

Perhaps doesn't sound that interesting in itself but Aidan gets on the wrong side of a telling off from legendary ballad singer Sheila Stewart who proves her point as to how it should be done by seemingly appearing with him at a concert in Glasgow's Barrowlands venue.

What starts off as a bit of a throwaway irreverent documentary seemingly ends poignantly with Sheila's performance and the fact that she died shortly afterwards.

Sheila wasn't averse to doing different things with songs though and I am sure what upset her was both the crudeness and she maybe felt Moffat didn't really respect the tradition. To show that as well as providing a blue clicky to the preview of the documentary. Sorry UK only can see this vid.

I have also provided one for the Martyn Bennet documentary about the making of his dance/techno album Grit. If you scrawl along and watch from 5 minutes to 10 minutes you see Sheila both working with Martyn and talking enthusiastically about the venture.

Thanks Freddy I've only seen the trailer myself but will be watching it at the weekend. Listened to Moffat's actual album today on Spotify though and not really my cup of tea!
