Then give us a bit of explanation so we know what the heck you're talking about. Try to be inclusive in your posts, especially in the first post of a thread. Thank you.

Romanian yodel-rap was good but rather odd. Probably a winner:-)

Inevitably, some pissed up Aussie got his arse out. Hilarious.

I never get anywhere near guessing it right. My two unavoidable follies of the year are Eurovision and the Grand National. Irrationalities of this kind, I find, are far more satisfying than believing in God. 😉

I generally avoid this feast of mediocrity, but was rather taken with the techno/folk piece. But the mrs told me that was only the support group.

I thought one of the songs was in fact another cyber-attack. Can't remember the country, but it was that one where the support cast were all wearing weird alien masks.

Now we're free from the E.U surely the BBC shouldn't be wasting our licence fee on such Abysmal standard so called music, and which is so blatantly a crooked fixed contest, and in which our entries are so far below an acceptable standard for any competition

I didn't watch it .BUT 70,000+ people reportedly praying with Pope allegedly for miracles at shrine of Fatima, Portugal. Portugal wins Eurovision? Surely it can't be true...

"Inevitably, some pissed up Aussie got his arse out." Not an Aussie – turns out it was a Ukrainian serial pest with an Australian flag.

Desi C,.... Eurovision is nothing to do with the E.U !!!   its an association of Europe wide ( and elsewhere nowadays !) broadcasters completely separate from the European union, and we were Founding members long before we joined the E,U.

Desi C,

People like you really make me despair. As Henry Piper has pointed out, it has nothing to do with the EU. Try reading up on the European Broadcasting Union. It's generally accepted that open co-operation has brought benefits to all...

As for your view that the BBC shouldn't show it because you don't like it? Well, it's extremely popular and well loved. Or should the licence fee be entirely reserved for things that you wish to watch?

I was glad to see a normal song sung by almost normal looking folks (I'll ignore his silly hairstyle) without lunatic backup singers/prancing dancers/cross dressers etc, actually winning!!!!!

DesiC, when England gives up camp, England will give up Eurovision.

Of course, everyone will be singing in French next year ;)

It hasn't been EU for many years, if ever - all kinds of places like Azerbaijan, Israel and Australia (none EU members (yet) as far as I know) get to sing-n-bling at this fabulous feast of fabulosity every year.

Have to say I kind of liked the Irish song, which came nowhere - a quiet, ballady thing sung by a young lad with a beautiful and unusual voice. But Ireland's jury seems to have lost touch with what's wanted at Eurovision for many years now.

Loved the jazzy, smoky torch song Portugal won with.

Get real Ed I wasn't seriously suggesting Eurovision has anything to o with the E.U I was using a thing called humour to protest at TV screening obviously crooked fixed shows like this and XFactor as real contests, they're no more real contests than Professional Wrestling is a sport

So how do you know they are "fixed", and how do they do it ?
Genuinely curious. "Fixed" was a word much used by Trump, recently.

I've dug Eurovision for quite a while.....my absolute favorite was this one!:
EUROVISION 2009 WINNER -NORWAY ALEXANDER

I was sitting on the toilet when I first heard this. My turd raced down the sewer pipes, crossed the English channel and torpedoed France.

This is the best version, done at the 'Nobel Prize' concert

Enjoy.......!!

You know Euro is fixed when genuine entries simply have NO chance of winning. But as for XFactor I am a performer and I know many other performers, most who would never go near the show if only for the contractual nonsense that winners are forced into. But I also know that MOST of the acts who appear on the TV show before the judges never actually go before an audition, they are invited onto the show and assured beforehand of a yes vote, in fact MOST now appear this way. It's spread to BGT in recent years i.e Susan Boyle had turned down BGT before being lured with a promise of 4 yes's. I've also spoke to a young Country singer in America and her family who has TWICE refused invitations to appear on the American version despite being promised a place in the final, The thing is these shows would be much more popular and exciting if the DIDN'T Fake so much of them, but they feel thay have to 'create' Subo type moments to make the judges look better
