The African-American Baptist gospel song "None But the Righteous," also recorded under the title "Take me to the Water," and, quite commonly recorded as "Baptize Me," has many, many variations.

This is my transcription of the version sung by the Norfleet Brothers, and it is of interest for its inclusion of a floating verse from the 18th century, which is highly unusual to find in this song!

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to serve the God I love [NOTE]

There is none but the righteous
(the righteous, the righteous)
None but the righteous, Well, Lord
(the righteous, the righteous)
There is none but the righteous, Oh Lord
(the righteous, the righteous)
That shall see the Lord
(that shall see the Lord)

Well, now take me to the water
(the water, the water)
Take me to the water, Hmmm, Lord
(the water, the water)
Lord, just take me to the water, Oh Lors
(the water, the water)
To be baptized
(well, to be baptized)

Well, right here is my heart
(my heart, my heart)
Well, take and seal it
(seal it, seal it)
Oh, now, seal it from the
(from the, from the)
From the courts above
(the courts above) [NOTE]

Yes, and how i love my Jesus
(my Jesus, my Jesus)
Well, how i love my Jesus, Mmmm-hmm, yes
(my Jesus, my Jesus)
Lord, and how i love my Jesus, Oh Lord
(my Jesus, my Jesus)
He first loved me
(well, he first loved me)

Yes, i've got a mother up in Glory, Whoa-oh
(in glory, in glory)
A mother up in Glory, Oh, yes
(in glory, in glory)
Mother up in Glory, Oh Lord
(in glory, in glory)
She's waiting there for me
(well, she's waiting there for me)

[NOTE]

The intro and verse 3 constitute a broken floating verse from "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" by Robert Robinson (1758), originally sung as follows:

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.

Note that "leave" in the original has become "serve" in the intro
and "for thy courts" has become "from the courts" in verse 3.

The Norfleet Brothers sing it as two extended couplets:

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to serve the God I love

Well, right here is my heart
(my heart, my heart)
Well, take and seal it
(seal it, seal it)
Oh, now, seal it from the
(from the, from the)
From the courts above
(the courts above)
