11 May 18 - 10:38 AM (#3923635) Subject: May Press Room [NH] Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess May Press Room Shanty, Forebitter, and Foc's'l Ballad Session-In-Exile is ON AGAIN!!! Saturday, May 19th from 3:30 to 7:30 at the Continental Restaurant & Bar -- Rte. 9 within sight of the intersection of Rtes. 108 and Rte. 9 in Somersworth, NH. The address is 509 High Street -- High Street is also Rte. 9 and Indian Brook Drive. There is a set of lights right in front of the restaurant. (Second set from the intersection.) Yes, it's the same Chinese restaurant where the Friday Anglo-Celtic Press Room-In-Exile trad session meets. Plenty of parking, handicapped access, lots of seating, good acoustics, Guinness on draft, and, hey!, Chinese food. We're in the function room just off the bar. When you come in the front door, turn left at the large saltwater fish tank, then turn right into the function room. PLEASE come and support us! We had a great time last month even though several regulars were at NEFFA. Hope we see an even bigger turn out this month. We need to support the Continental so they don't need to rent out the space. Hope to see you then! Linn |
11 May 18 - 11:00 AM (#3923645) Subject: RE: May Press Room [NH] Shanty Sing From: Jeri The session last month was wonderful, but the buffet was great, too. Gotta get there earlier this time, so the stuffing-of-face doesn't interfere with singing. |

20 May 18 - 02:00 PM (#3925943) Subject: RE: May Press Room [NH] Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess What a lovely sing we had yesterday! Looks like I won't have time to post what we sang until tomorrow. Yesterday was a very tightly packed day for me. I had a Maine Old Cemeteries Association meeting in Waterboro, Maine, and had to be on the road at 7 a.m. As it is, I didn't go to the cemetery after lunch, but headed back towards Somersworth, NH for the shanty sing. We did have THREE people from the bar or the other dining room come in to tell us how much they enjoyed the music -- even though we actually spent a lot of time talking and telling stories. More later! Linn |
20 May 18 - 02:06 PM (#3925944) Subject: RE: May Press Room [NH] Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Oh! Forgot to mention that the interview with me about the Friday session's relocation to the Continental finally ran in today's Seacoast Sunday (Sunday edition of the Portsmouth [NH] Herald). Because it's been sitting on an editor's desk for two months, the article doesn't state that the Press Room-In-Exile monthly Shanty, Forebitter, and Foc's'l Ballad session is now also meeting at the Continental...or that the new owners of The Press Room have touched base with me and at least are in possession of my contact information.
